Crustaceous

The wind was still bad for me today.  Even the "AA" run below Big Green Break was a bit choppy, and difficult to keep the boat headed in the right direction.

Caught 5 in just over three hours.  Didn't launch until 10:00am or so, and pulled out at 1.  Had three slots, and two unders, all on....what I do best....a spinnerbait.  I'd fish for a while, and think...."Man, it's too windy, and with the water drop, I'm never gonna catch anything today.  Might as well go load...WOOPS!!!  There's one!"...and I'd end up staying.  It was one of those days that I wished I would'a caught less so I could go home....but NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!   ;)

Stay home  :-\ If them fishy's is bite'n no way. Hey 5 fish three hours in the middle of a cold snap that pretty good dude. When you are fishing Caddo those slot fish and unders just keep you going so that you will hang around and catch that monster. Caddo is full of them ~shade

Papa, thanks for the report. Don't worry about those whately fish. We should fish it together that way we could at least enjoy each others converation ;)

Still catching buzz bait fish that is good 8) I like that they will hit a jig, beings the water is so clear would you mind giving up a hint to what color you were using :-\ Hey if they will hit a buzz bait, did you try something slower on top like a spook?
Solid black jig & trailer Tried Black blue and Black green  No regular tops, but did throw a Horney toad for a while with no takers. lots of grass and very clear.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and you'll never see him again!

Trey, Aparently the white bass are doing very well in the river, check with RailRoad, he just caught a bunch up there in a very short time.

Ricky don't worry about anyone being on anything. Caddo is a very finicky lake at times and a good prefish can hurt you it is best to hit the water and build a game plan as you go. The good thing about Caddo is there are a lot, I mean a lot of 6-10 pound bass in it. And starting from about now until March seems like there is one over eight caught every week with some weeks several being caught it just depends on the weather.

I Vote next Month PaPa's Pond!  I sure would like to hook something bigger then 5/6 lbs

Other then that going to just hit caddo nice & easy.  Fish some spinners & flukes that I showed Mike.  Maybe a Jig or 2 around some trees & I'll have a trap tied on for the pads/grass

Fogy

Mike Cork

Sounds like a very good game plan there Fogy ~c~ Like I said before the best thing about Caddo this time of year is you have a real good chance (as compared to the rest of the year on any lake) to catch a fish of a lifetime.

Yeah we (I) need to restock the pond , we took most of the Bass out this year but there are still a few "TOADS" in there. I have put 3 nice girls in there in the last month ~c~

dave the dope man

I rode around Caddo today for a few hours so here is what I found  (MikeC). Early am Earl G. was socked in with fog for about 1.5 hours, so I was a little late getting into Texas. Saw a Nitro that looked JUST LIKE MINE AGAIN.... Cool guys in that boat there, I tell you...Anyhow. Water temps varied between 48 and 55 degrees as did the clarity. Whatley/ Green break/ Jap Island areas are GIN CLEAR. Earl g is Stained to opaque, the river up as far as I ran is chocolate milk with LOTS-O-CURRENT. Grass is EVERYWHERE. The pads are either down on bottom and reatining thier stems of have decayed and lots thier stems. Millfoil abounds however I didn't see any coontail. Sorry this is vague but really, thats all I have. Like I said I mostly rode around..........Dave

Thanks Dave, I sure do appreciate the info that you all are putting up. Looks like it will be very tough for me to get to pre fish and with all the info I can get a general idea where to go. I tell you what though with the forcast I won't be going far lo

It might be a bit crowded if we ALL drop the trolling motors at the ramp and start fishing.  lo  And as far as a general idea where to go...in the tahoe with the heat running.

we went to caddo this morning and i have never felt cold like i did today. hey we also saw a nitro that looks like mine, oh dave you were oh so close to our cage with the five overs so please be carefull were you run in that general area.  ::) but any way our day was not so bad we had 5 fish by 0900 3 over 2 slot 1 under. biggest was 4 1/2. smallest was 3.2 on my scale. it was a early morning bite, so from 1000 till 1400 didnt get another bite.so i might be thinking of fishing the ABA.  :-\ but will see everyone sunday..

Gabby

Well, me and my friend Brantley fished Caddo from about an hour after sunup till around 3:30.  What a tough day.  We each caught one 14 incher, both on white spinnerbaits with willow blades at about 3 pm (the water temp had risen in this spot on Jeems 2 degrees from the morning temp).  Both hit aggressively.

The fog on Jeems was intense in the morning hours.  Water temp was in the high 40s, I believe.  I pitched a jig all day - it was my practice day in which I told myself that I was going to throw a jig at least 80% of the day.  I have to say it is very different and a lot of fun (despite not even getting a bite).

Now I am wishing I could trade all of my reels in for the Shimano Castaic SF, which you can engage with the same thumb that you control the line with.  It actually would make throwing just about everything easier!

Anyways - good luck and have fun TCTC members!  It was a tough day Saturday, and I am sure it will be tough Sunday with the predicted rain.  Got to go to Church since the Bishop is in town.... ~an~

Fished the ABA yesterday, saw some old familar faces(papa, doper, b. smith, revels, walt) the morning started out in a fog bank so I fished around earl g. for 45min until i felt I could run.  once you got out on  the main lake the fog wasnt as thick.  started at Jap, fished 45min without a bite, then missed one on a wave worm. not sure if it was a game fish when I set the hook I came back with 1/4 of my worm.  I picked up a trap and in 3 casts I caught a 14 1/17 inch lm and had to return it to the deep ( slot sux ).  Moved to peach orchard with the trap and stayed there until 12 pm and caught 6 fish all 16 to 17 in and most  3lb or over an all fat and healthy but had to kiss them all and return all to the deep ( slot sux, esp in a tournament ), moved to swans arm without a bite, 15min left I finally caught an over (4.24lb) at the water intake of the power plant.  made my way back to the launch.  21 lb won the tournament *ben clemmons*, 2 -  7lb fish took big bass honors and just over 7lb took a check in 11th place.  great day catchin, not a great day weighin.

'If you got to be in it, you might as well win it!'

Mike Noble

Fished Caddo today in the TCTC.  Caught 5 slot fish, all on a chartruese/white spinnerbait.  Four came out of Rice's pocket.

Once again....can you say CADDO SUCKS.  O0

Trey and I fished the TCTC today. We fished the community bank at potters and caught a lot of slot fish but managed to get 5 decent fish to weigh after culling several tiny keepers. all fish came around potters in extremely thick hydrilla and pads. spinnerbait with black colorado blade ripped through the grass as fast as you could reel to try to keep out of the grass.

I fished the ABA yesterday and caught 6 fish on a Black blue jig, 5 slots and 1 keeper. around Bonhams arm on trees.

OK I have to ask.......slots are?? I'm guessing shorts?? right??

bassadict69

Several of our lakes have slot limits...Such as 14"-17" on most of them: Anything between 14 & 17 inches has to be thrown back. 12"-13 7/8 are legal & anything over 17 inches are legal.

Mike Cork

Fished the TCTC today and caught several fish but the Slot Monster was all over me. Caddo has some monster fish in it, just can't get them to bite. Caught one on a jig, one on a worm, one on a spinner bait and several on a rattle trap. The best pull of the day was a Jack fish, had to be as long as my leg. All them teeth and a mouth full of rattle trap, no fun in the rain lo
