Fished the TCTC also and caught 3 jackfish and 6 bass (1Slot, 2 unders, 3 dinks). All fish came off of brush except the slot. Caught them on a 1/4 oz white spinnerbait up in the river around "U" Row. Water was clear/green and 55. I had to slow roll it right over the limbs to get bite and most times make 3-4 cast to the same pile. Waves where pretty bad on the main lake but the river was glass in most places. Congrats to the winners! ~c~  Also would like to say Thank You to the TCTC Members for a Very Fun and Educating year, Bring on 2006!

Trey and I had slot fish and missed fish problems along with a spunhub on the prop which cost a couple hours fishing time.
We started off in the community hole up north and zeroed there, we then went to potters where we got into the slots, I caught 5 slot fish 1 dink and 1 under. I missed 2 pretty good fish on a spinnerbait that just came off, operator error I guess ~xyz. Anyway with no real good excuses I will say that we had a great time this year and hope to do better next year. Sorry I am going to have to miss the christmas party due to family priorities ( grandchildren ).

Only caught one weigh fish at Caddo yesterday but she was a good one weighing in at 6.25. Hit a white spinner bait in 2 ft of water. Caught other slots and jack fish on the spinner bait and a two slots on a jig against trees in 3 ft

Railroader how deep did Nick catch his fish, just curious?

Yep we should have chatted a bit more about what people were doing.  Would have been nice to here area, depth color of the baits folks were using.

BIG PAPA

Fished Caddo today and caught a pretty good mess of slots and one 18 1/4 incher. I was fishing deep trees close to the A boat row from the pipeline marker 100 or so up to about 115. I was throwing a chrome crank that dives about 8 feet on 15 lb. line. They were tight on the trees and stumps, had to pretty much bounce it off the tree to get bit. but still a lot of fun, I think I caught 9 with 8 slots. I saw some decent looking fish break water a couple of times in the boat row but could not get to them in time If the water had been up I would have cranked the big motor a run in on em  but with the water down I was a little to skeered. I  could not get them to hit anything after they went down. I tried a fluke, crank, rattletrap,
and little george but nothing.
Trey and I are going to Cross tomorrow, will let ya know how we do.

Great report PaPa.  Did you guys try to put a TX rig or Carolina rig soft plastic down below where they were busting the surface?

Good Luck on Cross

Don't have a report for this week being that I have been out of town last 5-6 days. But with the water still low I would'nt think much has changed.
Went down to Venice area below New Orleans to do some FEMA work on a medic unit. But was able to do some fishing while there. Caught several hundred reds and speckled trout using shrimp on a jig head. Most were 2-5 Lb. in size.

FEMA work on a medic unit & time to catch some Reds...I just may have to check in on that!

Sounds like a great trip Paul.  If were ever on the water at the same time I'm in Russ's old 929 stop and say Hi.

fished caddo today seems like the water was up a bit, i went to williams and it wasn't as bad as it was for club tourny. got on the water around 0730 and ran to marker 121. caught a 18in pretty quick on a fluke. water was clear 46deg. i picked up a c-rig with a 8in kudzu lizard throwing it in the same places as the fluke and on my first cast caught a 6.0 lber.must have been a fluke didnt get another bite.. so only 2 fish 2 overs..

Lake temps are down in the mid to upper 40's and most of the water is low and clear. The bass are still feeding up for the winter and are showing up occasionally in schools. Fished are ganged up in spots so usually if you catch one there are several more there. The bass have not stuck to any pattern or cover on a regular basis. Trees, grass, pads, open water have all been producing bites. Fishing the edge of the grass and pads has been probably the most reliable. Black/blue or watermelon senkos, white or chart/white spinnerbaits, shad colored flukes have been working best for me. Crappie can be caught using shiners and red/green jigs on the edge of the river in the pads from Johnsons to Marthas Crossing. The lake is extremely low and dangerous so be careful because there are a lot stumps in the center of the boat lanes.

Paul, I know we haven't had any significant rains but someone said the other day that they thought the lake had come up a little, any truth to that?

Mike, No the lake is still at the same level. Need days and days of heavy rain...

Mike Cork

I figured as much, and we probably won't get much in the way of filling up Caddo until lake of the pines is full  :'(

You will have to let us know next week how these warm days have effected the fishing on Caddo, I bet before the next cold front is going to be awesome :-*

Bass fishing has been good over the past week. The water temps are in the mid to upper 50's and the water is still low. I have been using a couple of diiferent lures lately, starting with a V&M Pork Shad in colors of watermelon or junebug. I Texas rig this bait with a 4.0 hook and no weight. Fishing over the grass and through the pad stems have worked well. Another lure I have been using is a 1/2 oz. Cyclone Jig in colors of back/blue or mardi gras. Stick with the cypress trees in 2-4 ft. of water fishing slow. I like to use a V&M Mud Bug as a trailer. The crappie are fair using white or green 1/16 oz. jigs fished 3-4 ft. deep using a bobber. Remember to be careful out there because there are stumps just under the surface in the boat lanes. Go to http://bayououtdoors.com to see the V&M line of baits. ;D

Bee :-\n quite in here for a while....no one fishing?

BIG PAPA

Most of us have been fishing Cypress , trying to find some fish for our tourney in the morning. With predicted winds of up to 30 miles per hour we may have wasted a lot of time when we could have been fishing Caddo. After Sun. I will be back on Caddo. Our next tourney looks to be on Grand Bayou and I will only make one trip down to pre fish. I can see a big string on Caddo just waiting for me. :)

Papa - what are the chances of us hooking up soon?  I'd love to fish with you & Trey, and catch up....

Hey buddy we will have to try to make it happen. I have some minor boat problems but should have them cleared up shortly. Something is drawing my batteries down on my trolling motor so my batteries are in bad shape after only 2-3 hours I am going to try pull some new wires  through sometime in the next few days, all depends on work.

Got an email from Steve Alexander - caught himself a hog, 8 pounds.  Sent a pic from Caddo Grocery, and it is HUGE.  I wish I had a scale for the one I caught on Monterey.  I thought it was pretty big, Daniel thought it was 5.5, and Brantley told me by the picture that it looked 6 to 7 pounds.

I got one on Grand that was 4.5 and KNOW it was well bigger than that (when you only catch a few fish over 4, you know when you got one bigger than the last).

Regardless, I hope we can go catch a few.

Went out to Caddo yesterday, caught a bunch (+-15). Most were slot fish, a few unders, but none over 18. A few came from traps in deeper grass but most came on plastics in 5-6ft clear water. Be careful its crazy low and I hit a few stumps while ideling in the boat rows.
