Our most recent video is doing awesome. 3.2k views in the first 48hrs. Pretty stoked about that. Chores today, can't wait to look at that kayak and hopefully get out on the water soon.

Steel those boats come in different lengths. A few companies make them.

I call those little tub boats, but they can really get into some really skinny places. What I like about these little boats is, if an angler is looking to get on the water and they can't afford a tin boat, these tub boats are great. You may be limited to small areas of water, but nonetheless it beats the bank imho.

This is really about exactly what I want. Grew up fishing from one in my grandpa's pond.
Is it car toppable, and can you stand in it? The one grandaddy had was a short little thing and not quite stable enough to stand in.

The boats are not cat-toppable. Well, at least not for 1 person. Maybe two could do it. They are made to be the perfect widtht (48") to fit between the wheel wells of a full size pickup. I tow mine on a trailer, which makes everything much easier. Sometimes I put it in the back of my worktruck as well.
They're made to be stood up in. Read my write up a few posts back for more info. For bass fishing small water, these boats are pretty ideal.

SteelHorseCowboy

Yeah, I just looked them up. They're just out of range for me in price and weight.
Loving that gheenoe, but that's out of reach too. Oh well.

SHC, I'm sure if you look around, there are plenty of used type of boats like this around.

Gheenoe's have always caught my eye, you can stand on them and get into some really skinny water. The model below is a 13 footer.

Same model.

They have caught my eye as well, I have considered them but I always have my doubts. I'm a big guy. The width of a Ghennoe worries me, even though chances are it is more stable than the tin I have.

I bet you could find one of those pond hoppers like Tress has real cheap used. As long as it has no cracks it should float, so that should be easy to spot.
I would bet you could find em in the 200 dollar range. A used TM and a battery and you would be all set. Maybe 2 batteries in case you want to play it safe.

Gheenoes come in a variety of lengths and widths. They are really in a different class of boats altogether, and are not comparable to pond boats or even tin john boats. A gheenoe requires a trailer to launch, unless you get like the smallest one and have no motor. But why would we do that anyway, as it defeats the purposes of a small, light portable boat and the benefits of a gheenoe in the first place - might as well have a paddle canoe.
I've almost considered getting a gheenoe to cover more water in bigger lakes, but I'm holding out for a bass boat. Too bad I just had to dump $5200 in my jeep for a new engine.

Several kayaks have a flat spot for a trolling motor on the back.

The Nucanoe I want is 77lbs, 41 inches wide and you can stand on it. It has a transom and room for 2 people at 12'.

Of course it isn't cheap at $1500 new.

If you are looking cheap those pond boats and 10'Jon boats can be found on Craigslist and stuff for very cheap.

I bought my first Jon boat on CL for $150 and it was a 12' deep v. I tossed it out of the back of my truck, no trailer for years, I got a TM and cheap 12v battery. Caught a ton of fish out of it. Then sold it 3 years later for $300.. and the TM for $50.

West6550

If you look back at my first few posts I started years ago you can see it lol

Edit, the pictures are broken.

Here it is.

Bought it like this (actual CL ad pic they had)

Fixed it up some (paint and a new board on the front.

I fished two people in that thing a lot and we both stood most the time.

This is turning out to be a great little boat topic.

SFL BassHunter

Those v hulls I always heard were unstable but being in LMG's a few time I have to say they aren't bad at all. In fact I think more stable than my flat hull tin.

Talking about those type of little tins brought back memories. Where there's a will, there's a way. In h.s. my buddy had an 8 ft tin, that was bare. It would leak so I would bring a big cup to bilge water from time to time. As an anchor we used a cinder block with a rope, and we had one wooden oar... we had fun catching fish out of that thing... lo

Figured I'd take Lou up on his invitation.  ;D

My first fishing boat was a 14' Jon boat. Started out with a 28lb trolling motor and later added a 9.5hp Evinrude. Thought I had a rocket!  lo

Once I added the outboard I had to get a trailer but up till then I'd drop the tailgate of my D200 (8'bed) and slide everything in. f I ever get the chance to jump on a good deal, I'll get another small Jon boat. There are so many awesome places I just can't take the Stratos and they hold some hawgs.

A neighbor of ours has a Pelican that we fished out of once (only time it's been in the water). It would've been fine with one man or maybe man and child. Not big enough for two full grown men with 7' rods.

Do Bass even have noses to smell?

West6550

I just spent the AM pulling weeds and I sprayed 6 gallons of roundup on the river rock drive way. *notice don't drink the well water for a few days lol*

Tressbasser

pretty sure all vertebrates have noses.

Check out the nostril holes in front of the eyes. It's a concave nose, not like ours that comes out.

I haven't shared why it's so hard for me, but here it goes in the short and sweet.
$11 an hour, fam of six, one in school out of state, my lady has only been back at work for about a month after spending 4 months unemployed.
Car and SUV, so no truck to toss a small boat into the bed.
Towing behind the SUV is very feasible, but those boats are just out of reach financially even though there are some AWESOME deals on some of those, especially the stolen bass boats!
Anything else, I just haven't found what suits my needs at a price I'm willing to pay. And the only way we're doing so freaking well at our income level is by being picky about how we spend it.

No more further derailment from me, y'all continue on with your previous discussion!

It's all good SHC, you and the Mrs. are doing what you got to do to support the family...  ~beer~ In time you will find something that will suit you just fine. Keep on, keeping on bud.

West6550

I think I am going to go fishing at a local park and take the drone as well. Peace out!
