Guys if you are posting pictures and are having trouble sizing them please take the time to download this small program~

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/photofiltre.html

it is very simple but it works great! Mike loves it... Remember you can have a large file size (up to 1024k) but your picture has to be no more than 400 x 400 in pixels (dimensions)

I bounced the idea of hosting next year's tournament off my club and they are interested.  Some of them have conflicts with the last weekend in September, but that is just the way it is going to be.  I think the last weekend in September should become the tradition.  They unanimously thought that Lake Wheeler would be the place to have it.  Lake Wheeler is usually good that time of year with multiple patterns working (i.e. everyone should catch fish, unless a hurricane comes through).  It is common to catch Largemouth, Spots, and Smallies all in the same day.  Here are my questions.

1.  Someone mentioned having a raffle to determine which club host the tournament.  Whatever became of this idea?
2.  Lake Wheeler is a LONG LONG way from Lake Charles and Shreveport (but not Biloxi).  Would you guys be willing to drive that far?

dave the dope man

Bo, Wheeler isn't THAT far from S'port...We could make it...However, That is the weekend that our state federation has it's fall qualifier..I missed this years annual tournament b/c I fished the qualifier and I will fish it again next year. I'd hate to miss it , but I do understand if that is the way it works out....Dave

Bo, what we will probably do is put those clubs that are interested in hosting and the lake they wish to host it on up fpr a vote. Unless of course Laurie has something else in mind. As soon as we can we will start putting things together so that we can put it up for a vote. I like this time of year but there are several things going on that can hurt the turnout. We may look into doing it in the summer time becuse there is less going on and it may be easier for some to plan the trip. I don't know for sure but that's something else we may vote on. I'm going next year, I don't care where it is. I had a blast at this one and Susie has already staked her claim in my boat. ;D I guess I'm going to have to sign her up on the site. That means sharing my computer >:( Oh well I have to shre everthing else. ;D

I'm flexible with the time of year.  But my favorite time to fish is after labor day.  I like being out there after the jetskiers are in school, the football fans are at games, and the hunters are in the woods.  It leaves more fish for me.  Anyway, I'll go whenever.  But reservations at these state parks book early...so the sooner we decide the better.  Just my 2 cents...

Jared LeBlue

No doubt. We will get the ball rolling soon so who ever host this one will have plenty of time to plan and we can all make reservations early.

I kind of feel like Bo I can fish anytime but: I like the first cool weather of Fall best of all.
I wonder how many real fishermen we will lose if we go to the first week in oct.
This is just thinking out loud and isn't meant to persuade anyone. Usually the lakes are less crowded and the weather is comfortable. :-*
Or we could go with the 2nd week in August and we really would get the real Bass guys and girls >:D
And maybe the Dope man and Nitro Girl could go :help:

Guys, (and girls), I hated to miss this last one and really hated it when I heard the reports and saw the pictures. I talked with Nitro Girl a few minutes ago before she left for work and she said she is looking forward to it. She got real excited when she heard it was on Wheeler, thinking that Ranger would make that one. She then asked for a boat paddle and a wood buring tool, and something about how to spell "ranger". I'm not sure about that one.

If we have plenty of heads up, we'll be there.....

I am pretty flexible (for fishing weekends that is).  I would like to see it planned around when the most could make it.  I do like September because you lose a lot of the lake traffic.

Dave...she isn't bringing a boat paddle Sunday, is she?

Rattle, we will have to try to have a meeting (phone call ;) ) in the next week if possible so that we can talk about how to pick next years location and the best way to decide time of year. I like the idea about tradition but before we settle on a tradition we need to make sure that we will have good participation too.

I would really like to see the host club participate in the forum, after all that is what this is all about, getting the folks that are here together to fish. I am working on some guide lines for the Annual UBCS, Rattle will have to help me out as the Events Captian. I am really looking forward to next year and it doesn't matter to me where it is just that it happens and we all have a great time like we did this year.

Bo is your club still looking for that message board? If so just shot me an email and I will get is set up this week...

I like the fall, the cooler weather and the fact that there is less boat traffic but here are some things to consider. School is in session, so for those who have kids being able to leave early would be a problem. Football has started, in our club I have two football coaches which means they would not be able to make it, not to mention if anyone has kids playing football they would probably be out. October means hunting season, not just here but in other states as well. For some on the board including myself that's not that big of a deal but there are quite a bit of people that put up their boats once hunting starts.
Summer time is hot and there is a lot of boat traffic but I believe ,and of course this is just my opinion, we would have a better turn out because there are less things going on at that time of the year.

Time and place does not matter to us, we can be there with enough time to plan it out..........

Rattle,
I would have to agree with the summer thing since we had to work hard to make sure our daughter was taken care of and would make it to school the days that we were gone. Yeah I know, we could have left on Friday after school was out but in the future we may have to travel further and that would mean leaving during the week and I really hate taking her out of school.

Personally I would like to fish in the spring but that is another ball of issues since the weather isnt always fishable and there is school and I am sure other things as well. I have put on several tournaments both in California and Louisiana and it is a chore to schedule around events based on a local level, we are talking about trying to get clubs on a National level together to fish so it is going to take a lot of consideration about a lot of different things.

Travel Time
Location
Other Tournaments
School/Football/Coaches
Lodging
Launch Facilities
Parks and weather they will allow us to hold the tournament there

and these are just a few, I am sure that there are more but it is before noon ;) and I am still a bit slow  :-[ If you have a consideration that you would like us to add please post it. I would like to see this not only become a tradition but a well planned out one that has top participation...

Just my opinion but as well as this one worked out I think the key is finding a host club first , one that is willing to put in the time that Rattle and the Lockjaw club.. If we can do that it doesn't really matter where. Otherwise it would need to be close to where Laurie is so she could make all the arrangements.
unless you want to have it on Caddo >:D then I would be glad to work in conjunction with Mike N. Dave. Addict and Shawn etc to see that it works. :-*

I you and Laurie thought that that would be best, yes I would help with the organization. I want like everyone for it to be the best it can be wherever that is :-*

I have to go along with Papa, I'd be willing to bet that the TCTC could do a great job of making arrangements and hosting the UBCS. count me in if we go that way......Dave

I see this is going to be a Southern thing. What about us Northern members. I guess if you all hold a vote, it will automatically be down south because there are more southern members. Why can't you all hold it somewhere in the middle, say like Santee Cooper. Our club would be willing to host it, without any dought. I think you Southerners are just afraid of getting your butts whipped fishing, or maybe you all are afraid of getting lost if you come past Georgia........................

I would like to see several clubs willing to host the tournament for 2005. I do think that with the way the site is growing it could turn out to be quite the event so whoever it is that turns out to be the host may have more work than they bargained for ;)

Caddo  :-\  :'(

I hope we get several clubs interested in hosting.  It would be fun to make a "road trip".

Lets go at it this way...

What do you ALL think is the best way to pick the host club?

Keep in mind whatever we decide will be the way that it is picked from now on.

We could put everyone in a hat and draw names...
We could give the Chanpionship Club first dibs and then draw...
We could put it up for a public vote...
We could have them submit a plan of attack and Mike and I pick the best one...

open to suggestions  8) no really I need some suggestions here  ;) I really think this site belongs to it's members (YOU) all I do is tweak it so that we get more members by way of links and search engine results. What really makes this site work is You. So let me/us know what it is that you think...

Dundee, getting votes to have the tournament up your way is easy, simply get more people from up there to register on the site. I don't mind traveling and would love to fish some water up that way, but one thing we have to take into consideration is how many people will fish a Northern tournament. We want to get as many people to fish it as possible that's why we put these things to  vote.

I'd like to voice my opinion on this subject.  I have already heard several members say they would not buy out of state liscences to fish Rayburn.  I'm pretty sure that if this was held in say Alabama, Tennessee, or Kentucky probably only four or five members would go.  One concern would be money and one would be most of us are broke.  However, I think we could get an excellent turnout for a Shreveport area tournament.  I think it would be cool to go out of state but realistically our club ain't going to travel that well.
