I just watched the weather and it looks like Ivan is going to present a few problems, like wind and rain.  I sure hope it gets out of there before the weekend.

I just talked to Laurie and they made it to Lake Charles.  They did a little fishiing and caught a few small fish.  It sounded like they spent a good bit of time in rainsuits and had a couple of "down pours".  They are off to get gas and then to have supper...and maybe get a ladder so Papa can watch the weigh-in.

A ladder, now that's funny. lo I'm hoping we won't get that much rain. right now it's scattered at best. I did'nt even get a 1/2 inch at my house while in lake charles they caught a good bit of rain last night. This rain may actually help things. We haven't had any rain for the past 2 months so a couple of inches might not be all that bad.

I hope it is not raining down there like it is here.  We have got a lot of rain today...over 2 inches and it is still raining.

Talked with Laurie after the weigh-in.  The north Louisiana group has about a 4 pound lead after the first day and the team of Papa/Trey are the leading team.  ~c~

The cooking was already underway for the supper, so I know it was a great evening.

Good luck tomorrow.

Well, I'm sorry to say but I must admit defeat. :'( The Northern Club took the tournament.  I won't give any details at this time cause I know they can't wait to get on here and slam us. ;D I will say this it was a very tough weekend of fishing. To let you know how tough, the winning team( not club ) had a two day total of 5lbs. 13 oz. The winning club weight was 17lbs. 8 oz. Congatulations to all the winners.

Once everyone gets back I will post all the results, I just want to give them a chance to brag, they deserve it.

Oh and ask Mike and Laurie about their special catch. ;D

I hate I missed the fun.  I know it was a great weekend, especially with all the work you (Rattle) put into it.  We have to start on next year.

And I know Mike is good at catching "other" stuff.

We had a great time and it was great meeting everybody. I can't thank everyone enough for participating. I don't know where it will be next year but I bet it will be bigger and better. I hope it will continue to grow and become a tradition for all of us.

Just wanted to congratulate the winning teams and club.  They came down into unknown waters and kicked our tails for two days under extremely bad conditions.  That just says how good they are.  The fishing was poor, but the event was a blast.  Really enjoyed meeting you people from up North.  Rattle thanks for all the hard work you did for this event and our club.  I think our first year went down pretty good. Looking forward to next year and I hope we stay in-state to try to get those trophies back.

All you have to do to get the trophies back is to win them next year. Rattle, I would like to use Rag Time Tees next year so if you happen to go in there please let them know that I love the shirts and that we will be back so dont throw out the artwork if they have any! I would also like the addresses of the companies if you would could you send me a PM with that info sometime this week so I can send them a thank you note?

Ok just once I have to do this nannnaaaaanana we got the trophy!!!!!

Even though I didn't make it, I want to thank Rattle for ALL the work he did in getting this together.  Hats off to you on a JOB WELL DONE.  ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Like I said earlier none of this would be possible with out the participants and we had a great group down here for this tournament. We enjoyed putting this one on and look forward to next year.

Trey even made friends with the animals down here.

I just have to add that this was very eventfull for us as well! I have now seen my first live alligator, well the eyes of it at least. Hey did ya'll know that they will chase a top water bait  :o well I didn't and it was headed straight for mine, but the big meannnnyyyy wouldnt let me catch it  :'(

On Saturday I caught a flounder and boy are those bad boys ugggggllllly! and Mike caught one today. While we were fishing we seen, a crab up in a cove, the biggest snapping turtle that I have ever seen out in the river, a lady fish, and the craxiest thing you will ever see are the flying fish (Mullett) you would be fishing along and "darn" if one wouldn't jump right next to the boat and scare the pants right off of ya' it was the craziest thing. One of the guys even caught a red fish! I am gonna have so much fun living in Biloxi, I hope we get to catch the cool things there too...

Well, Yes Rattle didn't get hardly any rain at his house. Buuuuttt we at the camp got so much that Papa pulled the plug on his boat that morning and it ran for a solid 15 minutes. My boat? well, my compartments don't leak yet and when I opened them there was water standing in the bottom. The boat filled with so much water that it come up threw the bottom of the boxes and was standing in them.....

I still can't believe yall have never seen Mullet jumping. To this day I couldn't tell you why they jump like that but we see them every time we go to the river. The salt water fish are not uncommon especially where you and Mike were fishing, the further North you go the less likely you will catch one.

Rattle, we don't see Mullets up here.  When I lived in Baton Rouge and fished the spillway and areas south, we would see them all the time.  I've even seen them land in the boat many times.

And I'm not sure he is from south Louisiana.  But that is not important.

Guess I will hang on to the old cobra for a little while longer with the move and all coming up. Besides I got to pass everyone on the river this weekend and it gave me renewed love for the beast..... Plus Laurie said something about new carpet maybe a gel coat polish and oh yeah the best part SHE wants a 300 hp. I don't know - well maybe - lets think about this for a minute - oh heeeeeelllllll yeah
