Rattle,

If you turn right from the landing at the park, is that called West Fork? And does that lead into Houston River and this there any good fishing in that area or is it better to head left toward the main river and go from there? Just trying to get a game plan together before getting on the water.

Rattle, just a question? We have picked up some folks that are not representing a club, are you looking at how to set up honorary membership to make it even. Looks like there are going to be two clubs represented and obviously your club is going to have the majority, just wondering. I know the rules are set up for a club weigh in and then an individual weigh in.

No not at all I was just wondering how it was going to play out. We will take all the honorary members, I think that is great. We will have a dirverse knowlegde base that you southern-southern boys won't be able to touch

Bassadict, if you have a color printer go to www.mapcard.com. For around $14 you get a year membership on the site and you can download and print as many maps as you want. You can zoom in and out and detail the map to you likings. I have a 14 page map of the Calcasieu I downloaded and it's awesome. I just put it in a binder with the plastic covers. The good thing is you can make a map of any lake or area you want to in the USA. For 14 bucks you can't beat it.

Also make one for Henderson Swamp. That is why I was asking about the West Fork and Houston River....

If you get it, punch in Calcasieu River, Lat. 30.055 & Lan. -93.29694, that will get you very close to the park.

Ricky, when you launch at Sam Houston Jones you are on the West Fork. The cut that runs off to the right is Houston River and the cut on the left which goes to Parkside Marine is Indian Bayou.

that helps me get my bearings right or left, see, I'm always confussed for some reason! I didn't go up the Houston the other day, but did see some boats come running out of there WOT right up to the landing. I was fussing them in my boat, but when we got to the landing, there are no wake signs going that way, so they were right! Not sure about the fishing up the Houston?
