Got ya...Caught many a grinnel up here, I had just never heard it called that.

Bo Crawford, we would love to have you come to the tournament. Like Rattle said the main goal is to get people from the board together and put faces with names. I hope you make it. Maybe your club could host it next year? If not we are going to for sure, but I love going to far away lands with the prospect of catch large numbers of bass so I am all for going to mississippi  ;D

You posted earlier - why not the red river? A couple reasons (non exlcuding the possiblility), September can be a great time on the river but it is very hot with no shade, Quantity will be high but quality will be tough (not a real issue), the big thing was to find something that was different as the souther LA boys fish a portion of the red also. Besides Grand Bayou had the possiblity of catching a hawg and the cabins are alot nicer. So really it was all about lodging.

Mike, to verify, we are talking about September 25th and 26th?

TMTanglers will host a tournament in 2005. But the problem with our club is that most of our members are in Alabama.  Until I recruit some members from MS & LA they will want to have it in Alabama.  This isn't a problem for me, because there are some GREAT places to fish there.  But I am wondering if your clubs have 6 members from each who are willing to travel that far for a fishing tournament that doesn't involve FLW or BASS.

Mike Cork

Yes the dates are correct. Getting poeple to travel to the far away lands is not an issue, everyone wants to go. The problem is finding a date that conflicts the least. We do have several members that fish other larger organizations and are regretting that they are previously obligated. So if planned in advance attendance should be good, but to early and you take a chance on conflicting with wth bigger events.

My fishing partner is bassadict69 and will not be able to go so will we allow subs and if so is there anyone with a back seat open  :o

Jared LeBlue

Mastertech, this is the first tournament we have like this so we are pretty much open right now. I would like to see it be a club oriented tournament but for this one if you do not belong to a club we will put you with one of the clubs as an honorary member. The whole point to having this tournament is meet everyone on the board and to share information between clubs, and finally to promote this site. Mike and Laurie have done alot of work to provide this site for free so I hoping this will be something that will get more people involved with the site. I think this tournament will grow quite a bit next year and hopefully more so in years to come. We kind of came up with it earlier in this summer and putting it together has been a challenge. I think next year we will be more prepared and will have more input on it.

Rattle, Mastertech is a member of the Twin Cities Team Club. Bassadict has a conflict and can not make it so Mastertech is looking for a partner from the board. All of your reply still applies just to the boater that Mastertech hopefully will find. I don't think it has been said in this thread yet but I wanted to thank you Rattle for being so diligent and working so hard to put this togeter it is going to be a great time thanks to you. ~mcc~

It's no problem, I enjoy doing it. I just hope the fish cooperate that weekend.

It is not going to be a problem getting Mastertech in a boat.  Jeff and I already talked about it, and we will split up if we need to.  If that is what we do, we will have another back seat open.  I hope some others are going to jump in also.

Also, thanks Rattle for all you have and are going to do.

I thought you were "guaranteeing" lots of fish catching that weekend! ;D

Ok guys and gals Laurie has put the rules up for everyone to view. Look to the left on the side bar and there is a link to them. At the bottom of the page under information # (3) will be updated soon, we had some problems between our software so somehow in the cut and paste procees it got messed up. Also keep checking them because there may be some changes made in the future. I will have hard copies of the rules at the tournament.

I have a suggestion concening the trophy.  We could get a revolving trophy.  Each year the winning club and the name is added. That club gets to keep the trophy for a year.  It shows the history of the tournament.  I play with a golf group that has been doing this for 12 years. It really makes the trophy meaningful.

DundeeMike

How about next year, make it a place where us northern boys can get to, and show you southern boys how to fish!!! A half way point would be good, like south Carolina or something.......or are you afraid of getting Whamped!!

Jared LeBlue

I game for any place, there's nothing like kickin butt in another state.
Ardent Prostaff

Jared LeBlue

Wildcat that's a great idea.
Ardent Prostaff

Mike Cork

Great ideas, I love the revolving trophy deal, and Dundee I am sure that next year this could be alot more centralized. Besides Dundee I would love to have you teach me something new  ;D When we started this idea this year there were only a handful of poeple on the forum and mostly from Louisiana so there was not much thought into going into another state. But that is definately in the cards for next year.

Just to put it out there we have several fisherman that could split up and bring two boats is anyone wants to fly or drive in for the event. I do realize that money and time off work is and issue but just wanted to throw that out there just in case.

DundeeMike, Hey Yankee Boy. In typical Yankee fashion you think you can out fish southern boys.  What an awaking you will have!

Many years ago I lived for a short period of time in Maryland.  Worked in Baltimore and lived on the bay.  It was nice scenery but what you guys call bass we call minnows here.

Mike Cork

Wildcat, I just saw your response for "State" and got a kick out of it, thanks.

I am in!

Count me in as an honorary member of whichever club is shortest on members.  My partner has never fished a tournament before so I do not think we will be much help, but we plan on having fun regardless.  I really do want this to become an annual tradition and am looking forward to meeting you folks.

Questions:  What is the name of the body of water we are fishing?  Where did you say I can buy a map?  Do I need to rent a cabin at Sam Houston State Park?

Looking forward to it...

DundeeMike

Wildcat, So you lived in Maryland for a short while, glad you liked the scenery. As for your fishing, you must have done some wrong things to catch, in your words" minnows". See, us northern fisherman know how to catch big fish, in pressured waters. You are not counting Mudfish as bass are you? I just think, next year we might be able to settle this. Oh, by the way, you can not use live bait.....

Mike Cork

Dundee, you must have caught a cypress trout or two in your day to know what they were. We all down here count them because of the pull :o besides they often win the junk fish pot...

Mike, When I lived in Florida for 8 years, I caught my share of the Snakehead cousins....

Mike Cork

Ahhh Yes florida, spent a couple years there myself, when the bass fishing would get slow I would go find me a mud fish or two....

The t-shirts are going to run about $10. I need to know exactly how many to order so if you want one or two let me know and what size you want.
Ardent Prostaff

MotherNature

Hey Rattle! Are the shirts going to come in ladies sizes or just mens?
