Smoked some burgers today. 1lb ground beef, 1lb hot Italian sausage, half a sweet onion finely diced, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons fajita powder, 2 tablespoons garlic powder shredded or crumbled cheese of your choice, I used blue cheese. Mix the sausage, egg and the rest of the ingredients except for the beef til well mixed then add the beef. Smoke over your favorite smoke, used cherry today, had them on a toasted kaiser roll. We had shrimp/pasta salad, canned baby shrimp, acini de pepe, mayo, a touch of vinegar and sugar and tomato salad on a bed of romaine. Simple, easy, quick and tasty.

Rodney... I'm curious, just how many folks do you feed with your weekend grill-outs?

I'm reading along and think dam this sounds good but I'll cut it in half. Then I read kaiser roll (I was thinking a meat loaf style patty) and then shrimp!!!

Going to try this one! Might have to go with mild sausage to pass the family tolerance level though  :surrender:  :'(

Sounds good, old guy. Like Mike, I'll have to cut down the recipe. I'm not a  burger guy but might make a meatloaf.

The shrimp are the tiny canned ones, that was an old recipe of my Mom's.
The burgers are about 1/3 pound patties, I always like to make extras of anything I do, saves on cooking during the week. lo lo This was for my wife and I. The hot sausage when it's mixed with the other ingredients then cooked loses some of it's heat, my wife doesn't like hot and she likes these.

That sounds so good Rodney. I will have to cave in and get that gym membership now though.  ;) ~shade

How long do you let them smoke? Finish on grill? I imagine they soak up smoke really quick!

At 225 degrees they take just over an hour according to my 2 probes. They do take in good smoke and finish in the smoker.
