Going to my usual spot on the St. John's River. The last time fishing this spot was in January due to the low water. Curious how it will fish now that the water is back up.
Very cool, good luck!!

I don't know nothin about no $40 Yeti bucket, but I've got 5 gallon buckets older than my youngest son.
I've never once paid a penny for a bucket. Used to collect them from construction sites when I worked with concrete and pipelines. I still won't hesitate to stop by a construction site and ask for empties. Painters are a great source, you can get buckets from them ranging from a half gallon to 5 gallons.
I've been saying since Yeti hit the market with their overpriced "bear proof" boxes, if financing is offered for your new beer cooler, you're doing something wrong.
Coleman's have always worked just fine for me, and they'll last quite a while if you don't let anyone use it for a seat.
And their $40 steel cups? You can find a good knockoff at Fred's dollar store for about ten bucks that works great. I'll fill one with 32 oz of coffee at 0500, and it's still hot at 0800. Then drink ice water from it the rest of the day, filling it with ice once and refilling it with water numerous times.

West, your pond looks like one corner of my gravel pit, the spot I was fishing yesterday. You'd think it'd be loaded with fish, but the only thing I've seen come out of the spot I went to was one bream.

I love my RTIC tumbler! Thing is just as good as a Yeti. 10 bucks!

My brother has several Ozark Trail from Walmart, 10 bucks, works just as good as the RTIC lol.

They are all identical too, same exact product. In fact it is my understanding that the RTIC and Yeti come out of the same manufacturer, they just slap on different names. I am guessing all the other ones probably do too.

I'm enjoying my RTIC tumbler as well. Picked them up pretty cheap on an on-line sale.

Story I heard is that Yeti was started by two brothers who eventually had a difference of opinion, so one left and started RTIC. Haven't fact checked that though.

Not sure, but Yeti sued RTIC recently. So RTIC had to "redesign" all their stuff.

Their redesigned stuff is still in the works.

The main difference is the lids. Yeti out perform the others soley due to the lid. So buy a Yeti lid and make your knock of just as good.

I have 2 Yeti cups. One was a gift and the other I bought on a group deal by in at work. Had both for several years and use them everyday.

I have seen the difference in the way they're constructed, and the Yeti lids are higher quality all around.
But sometimes "good enough" really is good enough. I bought one of mine from Walgreens for $15 and some change (before I found out Fred's had them for $10), and a mossy oak from Goodwill for two bucks.
It's 2200 as I write this, and the Mossy Oak cup has held ice for a little over ten hours at this point, with several refills.

Yeah and strong too. I knew it wasn't a bass moments after it hit the spinnerbait because it dove and didn't feel like a bass. But it was a fun catch.

What is that, some kind of cichlid?
11lb 2 oz PB 🎣

Capt. BassinLou

Yes its called the black acaria.

SFL BassHunter

It's a Spotted Tilapia actually.
They look fairly similar to the Black Acaria, except they can grow bigger and when they do get to this size the bars turn into spots like the fish I caught. Where the black acaria has 2 spots and the rest are bars. Also if you look at the side fin its pointy. The black acaria fin isn't.

The lake I was fishing is full of them.

You may be correct Rick, we have a bunch of these in South FL. They grow to a pretty good size.

Aren't they the vegetarian variety?

Deadeye

I had one Yeti, it was left by a camper at our Club. I wouldn't pay that much for one, so I bought the Ozark Trail ones at Wal Mart. I see no difference at all including the lids, in fact just to see I cross checked the lids and they both worked the same.

The Camper that left the Yeti was a friend of mine. I didn't know that until he came back the next year and asked if anyone had turned in a Yeti Cup that he had left, I said no and he looked heartbroken. I brought it in and walked up to him and said 'I got something for ya" and handed it to him. I thought he was gonna cry he was so happy.

The tilapia? No the spotted tilapia is an omnivore. Eats everything according to FWC.

The Blue Tilapia is the herbivore and eats algae and plankton and stuff like that.

Fred the lid's do cross match. That i's why I said get a Yeti one. The lids have better seals and are thicker. They are often on clearance at Dicks. Lots of people I know grab a lid on sale then a Rtic or Ozark cup.

There is a YouTube video of a guy who puts several cups in a oven for like 20 mins at 300° the YetI water actually gets colder.. lol

The off brands lids melt.. and get hotter.

The off brands are great. The Yeti lids just stay on better so people buy them. My FIL does that as do coworkers. A lid isn't necessary, but if you see one on super sale why not grab an extra lid. Kind of like bearing upgrades on a reel aren't necessary.. lol

IDK Man I really do not see any difference in them at all. My first Ozark Trail from WM I did a test with it. Filled with Ice n water then let it sit. 20 something hours later there was still ice in there. That is good enough for me.

In fact I started putting less ice in so I could drink more water as the water would be gone and all I'd have was ice.

The 1st time I put coffee in my 20 oz I out the lid on right away like all my other mugs. BIG MISTAKE. About 20 minutes later I took a sip and BURNT my lips (Upper & Lower) and my tongue. Now I let them sit for 15-20 minutes before I put the lid on. Cools to the right "drinking temp" for me and then it stays there for as long as I'm drinking it. Never have had it get cold.

I bought mine when the 20 oz was 7.99 and the 30 oz was 8.99.  No way will I pay $30.00 for one just because it says Yeti.

Mini report: Hit the St. John's this morning. Water level is back up with a pretty good current. Picked up 2 on the gold Boy Howdy first thing and had a couple of misses on the popping frog. I caught fish here and there pitching a black/blue beaver and they seemed pretty spread out. I ended up with 9 and most were good quality fish. Biggest went around 4 lbs. I couldn't get to #10. Off the water at noon. Fun day!
