This is one of the main reasons why I love our competition. It tests and wears on you mentally and physically in the summer.

Hey Rick,

I was just reading an article from the FWC and they were talking about good lakes to fish based on creel reports and the Big Fish thing they have.

Kissimmee was the top rated for numbers at: .058 Bass per hour.

That is just over 1 Bass for every 2 hours fished.

That also agrees with another study I read years ago that said the average angler in Florida catches 1 Bass for every 2 hours fished. So when we have those good days when we get several fish we are luckier than we think. Catching 1 every 2 means only 4 fish in 8 hours of fishing.

The REAL INTERESTING part is, you don't know when during that 8 hours you may catch them. You might get all four in hour 2, then spend the rest of the day with nothing.

Those numbers are based in part on "on the water interviews."  I've been interviewed several times on Kissimmee and Toho. The only problem is they are interviewing fisherman and we all lie, lie, lie....

However, those numbers are still pretty accurate. Those who fished the 2015 classic know just how fickle the big K can be. On Saturday, using 10+ years of tournament experience on that lake, I only managed 5 fish on 6 bites in 8 hours of fishing as hard as I ever have. On Sunday I caught 15 fish in less than 5 hours.

When I look back over the last 2 decades of big water tournaments, I've spent around 300 full days on the water with a back seater. Out of those I can remember only 5 days when we caught over 30 fish (1.5 fish per hour), 10 or so days with over 10 fish (.5 fish per hour) and many, many skunks. The majority of those days averaged about 5 fish (.25 fish per hour).  I've fished many 100 boat team tourneys where half the field did not weigh in fish. 50 boats, 100 skilled fishermen with a combined 1000 hours of fishing time with 0 fish caught.

After reading these last 2 posts, we are spoiled to death when the bass fishing conditions are right here in South FL.   :o

Fished Teneroc Management Area this morning from the backseat of a friends boat. Managed to get three measureable in the boat (see July thread). Biggest on a frog in the milfoil, second biggest on a fluke over submerged hydrilla, and the smallest on a swimbait in hydrilla. My friend broke his line 4 times on the hookset (bad spool of Suffix we think), so he only boated one on a trickworm. Bite shutdown as soon as the sun cleared the trees!

As to the above posts about .58 bass per hour average at Kissimmee, sounds about right to me when you average those that fish all day this time of year. I rarely fish there during the hottest months (Jul-Sep) but when I do, it's always just mornings. Pretty much that way on all the FL lakes because I don't have the patience to flip/punch deep cover looking for that "needle in a haystack" when the temp is mid 90s and feel like is well over 100.

Hydrilla. That's why I went in a friend's boat. Mine doesn't work on hydrilla where you cannot use the outboard at all.

Interesting. The Fishswami.com log tabulates your avg. fish per hour for you for the year. Since I've been using it the last few years my avg. has gotten better each year. I really contribute that to learning more from the UB forum (including you knuckleheads!) Lol!

I thought it was hot now, next week it's suppose to get hotter. I think the only time to fish is early in the morning when the sun is not up

Side note, did anyone see anything from ICast 2017 that might be interesting?

What is the worst thing about being a bank fisher? Always having to watch out for dog poop LOL

$40.00 Bucket from Yeti won Best of Show. That about says all you need to know about Icast, IMO.

Josh, my 24 year old, called yesterday and wanted to get on the water today. Apparently the bug has bitten him again. He hasn't been this excited about fishing since before he discovered girls... My back is not doing great this week so we're going to fish Lowery and I get the back seat!

Good to hear and good luck Lee!

I fished the pond with no luck. It was pretty and I did see a few small bass by the shore in two spots. But they weren't biting :-(

Yeah I noticed that avg fish deal. I haven't logged into swami in a while...I just can't do it. I am too lazy to "track" my fish. lol

Don't worry in about a year or two you'll be able to get that same bucket from another manufacturer for 19.99! No need for everyone to go out and rush to get this 40 dollar bucket lol.

That's cause you don't own that 40 dollar yeti bucket that Deadeye was talking about. The bucket is made of Unicorn teeth and by having it near you it increases your ability to catch fish.

Go get 'em Lee, enjoy the day with your son.

West sorry they weren't biting.

Hey read on another place that the Bucket can pull Double Duty if you add a Rope & a Bag of Cement you can use it as a Deep Water Anchor.

Seriously this thing is being laughed at on several places I have seen other than UB.

j102

Like Rick said, it should go down in price in a few months.
I'll pay $20 for one, but it's not worth $40.

West6550

You guys need to act now before they run out... lol

My favorite is how the lid is sold separately.. seriously? A $40 bucket.. without out a lid.

Where you going Flat's?

FlatsNBay

Going to my usual spot on the St. John's River. The last time fishing this spot was in January due to the low water. Curious how it will fish now that the water is back up.
