Camel spiders scream when they burn. And run. Fast. And I swear they can move in 15 different directions at once.
I'm just glad they don't get bigger.
NatGeo claims they average about six inches and can run up to 10 mph. Less reliable sources claim they can get to 15 inches (largest recorded is allegedly 12), can run up to 30 mph, and can jump up to 4 feet.
They're born of nightmares and the tears of grown men.

I just looked them up. Those things are evil looking! You couldn't pay me enough to be in a room with one of those things for any length of time.
I would turn down millions of dollars.

"They're born of nightmares and the tears of grown men." << This is an understatement.

Hi all,
Fishing from the bank has been tough this summer. I am trying to think of techniques that may work once the sun ☀️ is up. Any suggestions?

What is the worst thing about being a bank fisher? Always having to watch out for dog poop LOL

It's been extremely brutal to say the least. Night fishing is the only thing I can think of.

Dynamite is about the only thing I haven't tried. I'll let you have the honors of trying that technique.

But yeah Lou is right. Night fishing might be the best chance for some decent sized fish right now. It's bad when a senko ain't working.

Yah Rick, everyone is working hard for the fish we catch, except our old friend from the other site.  He is killing them, everywhere, with all kinds of baits!  Lol ~b~

Tomorrow is finally the day I'm going out on Turkey Lake.  I have the next two weeks off work so I was thinking about checking out catfish creek preserve for some bank fishing.  It will be a new spot for me.

It was reported that a guy caught a 26in, 10lb bass in Lake Trafford on June 25. Guess there is still a chance

They also said that a sampling yielded even bigger fish. If anyone wants to take a trip there, let me know lol

Rick and fished there once about a year ago. Nice lake, there was an algae bloom when we were there.

Nice. Do you say it has much in terms of bank fishing or its more of a boat lake?

Of course he is. I am sure he is catching a fish on every cast, interestingly enough he has never posted an actual picture of an actual fish he has caught. Soooo...

Sometimes they are old, and blind, and give everything a taste test since they can't see what it is. I think...

Lou and I went, we didn't catch anything. But we also aren't accustomed to fishing algae blooms. I tried all the stuff you are supposed to throw but that didn't help.

It is a boat lake. I don't think there is any bank fishing unless you fish from the boat ramp area which is like a little park. There is a pier that I think is T shaped if I recall. There isn't enough bank to be worth a trip there.

Luckily you asked, we saved you a long drive. Lol

I went and looked at Kayaks again today. I am lucky and the best place around is right down the street. Literaly every kayak I look up to "find one near you" takes me to him lol. The owner is super nice and even let us flim and he talked about some kayaks on flim as well. He said with iCast just wrapping up lots of companies going to pedal options. Before only a handful hade the option. So I am going to wait till they come out. The new kayak season starts soon so he was out of a few he had last time. He is waiting for the products to be released. Pretty cool and super nice guy, plus he is local. He was very surprised we were as well because most his sales are Tampa, Orlando or a few hours away lol. He seriously has everything.

West,
Are you looking for a kayak strictly for  bass fishing?

Bass mainly but for the travels as well. Like national parks and fishing for other fish out west.

Deadeye

Going to get out next week some for a couple of trips I'm hoping.

Got in late last night from the week's work and still not fully awake. Built two stores but the travel time is what gets you, especially if you travel the same day as the build. Depends on where they are too, one was near the panhandle and one outside of Atlanta. The Atlanta store was the one we did yesterday then drove home. Builds take about 9-10 hours.

That and this old fart isn't as young and spry as he used to be. LOL.

Going to the check our Game Cameras later and I'm bringing the Twins up for a visit with me & Grammy when I come back.

Trying to get that early morning fish bite, I have been bitten too by mosquitos. I am planning to go out early tomorrow to a park that has tons of them. Is there any repellants you guys recommend?

Going to make a trip to basspro after work to load up on whatever they have

I use this one cause it doesn't smell terrible. Works fine for me. It is also Deet free which is good cause Deet is supposed to be bad for you.

But if you want something hardcore, I am sure BPS has some extra strength stuff.

Well...lets see what the fishing gods have in store for me tomorrow, heading out to Lox in the a.m. Looking forward to trying some new toads. Reading WESTS post on why don't we just use a Stanley frogs instead of the homemade Sprinker frogs left me thinking how that statement made sense, so I picked up a few models of Stanley toads. I'm also trying out the Owner Beast swimbait hooks as well. I have been having hook up issues with the current brand I'm using. As always I will report on the outing tomorrow at some time. :)

West6550

Good luck you guys tomorrow.

As far as bug spray. I just buy it at the camping area of Walmar. I am sure deet is bad for you, so are snacky cakes lol and I love those! I just by the highest deet % I can find. Always works for me.

FlatsNBay

If you aren't moving and are sitting still fishing, get you a Therma Cell. They carry them at Bass Pro. It uses a  butane cartridge to heat up a pad of odorless repellent that creates an invisible cloud around you. Each butane cartridge lasts 12 hours and usually takes about 15 minutes to heat up the pad to start working. They work great and all of the hunters use them. Just fire it up and set it on the deck of the boat by your feet. You'll never use repellent again!
