Lou you need to go out this weekend even if for just a short trip. Thanks for the report Fred and that was a tuff day but you did catch one nice Bass.

I started with 6-8 rods rigged and just went fishing. At the first place that looked good I pulled  in and spent about an hour+ there working the pads on both sides of the river. They should of been there too, deep water near and a quick rise up onto a mid shallow flat. Also the tail end of an mid stream island with lots of current flowing past due to the recent rains. Nothing.

Fired up and ran to another spot and worked the pads there for I don't know how long. Gave the "last cast" and hooked the biggest of the day at 18 1/2, about 3 lbs. So I worked that area some more and like I personally find more often than not, no more hits.

Ran to another area and worked the bank line that was free from pads but has lots of under water logs and sticks. Nothing.

Ran to last area and worked the pads there and managed to pick up 2 more.

Caught all with a Swimming Ribbiontail Worm.

Tried Whopper Plopper (threw this quite a bit to give it an honest try, had 1 hit from a Gar), HB Frog, Buzz Frog, Spinnerbait, Flipped some mat edges, and Weightless Speedworm for a short time.

Spent about 7 1/2 - 8 hrs on the water for 3 bites.

Some pics.

I noticed on one of the fish I caught that was tied up in pads for a bit that the side of it's cheek was all torn open. Then I saw it again on another fish in a pic I had taken. I am wondering if this is due to switching to Braid for my worms and it is cutting the fishes face while they are fighting the line against the pads? Anyone ever notice this as well?

Dang it was a tough 7 and a half hours, but at least you didn't get skunked.

I haven't noticed what you are describing. I may have to see a picture of it, to trigger a resemblance in my memory bank.

Glad you got a few Fred, I have only fished a handful of times of the dock.

Been spending a lot of time working on our new website. Made us a little logo, and been working on "channel branding". Turning out pretty good so far.

Work till 11pm tonight then a buddies wedding tomorrow. I have a little vacation over the 4th with the family coming up.

I will probably hold off getting a kayak until next month. I want to do some model comparison videos and stuff first.

Nice fish! Lou is right about bank fishing, been skunked 3 times already. On one of the trips, a tank literally swam pass me. I tell you, they know

What is the worst thing about being a bank fisher? Always having to watch out for dog poop LOL

I saw a big one swim past me along the bank and I swear I saw it wink at me and dart off.

Rick that cut to the face is why I turned my one fish around for the pic. Didn't really want that bad cheek pic to show.

Didn't think about it until later that I should of taken a pic just to let others see and if they had saw the same.

It looked like someone had taken a file or wire saw to it and cut a section off. That's what made me wonder if the braid had something to do with it. It was pegged against a standing pad stem for a bit before I got her loose.

Oh I see.
The only thing I can remember on a few fish I've caught is a roundish mark on a gill plate or side of the fish. But I think those have come from the fish hitting a rock or a stick in the water.

Nope. It's between Haines City and Lake Alfred in Polk County. Nothing special about it, it's a typical Florida saucer lake. It was the cheapest place I could find on the water to live the rest of my crusty old days.

Fished the Hillsborough River yesterday and got skunked for my first time ever. Water level has come up too fast or something. Several other boats reported the same.

Read that the heavy rain over past 2 weeks had caused a fish kill on the Kissimmee River.

Didn't see any dead fish on the H but something has definitely happened.

Nice view FishinDaddy. I wish I could drink my coffee with that view.

Nice work, FD. Now the culling gets tougher.

Just curious about what you guys think. I don't remember the past summers to be this hard to find fish. Is it just me? I already skunked out 4 times LOL

Nope... it happens every summer, sometimes some outings are better than others. Go look at last summer's reports. You will see the same pattern.

RC, I had my best month last July, the first month I joined FLBR. I wasn't measuring fish in the months before that, but I am sure they would not have been more than what I had in July. Keep at it, you know everything is cyclical. Just when you think they shouldn't be biting, you'll have a great day. I never expected such good results in the middle of summer, but, just have to go where the big ones live, and they'll bite...eventually. I threw back about 96" of bass today, and had one that culled. The bite wasn't very good, but the ones that bit were all around 19".

And you suck, just saying.  :surrender:

Truthfully Tress you have brought a whole other level of competition to this contest. I can count on you to put 100 up almost every month, and that makes the rest of us work harder to get there, good job.
