I did not get the kayak yet.

Not going to get to use it much so didn't go get one.

Wife and I did some fliming and editing for some more videos.

Friends wedding this weekend,  honestly not sure if I will get to fish this month or not :-(

I have fished a few times off the dock but the water is so low I'm  casting on less than a foot of water everywhere in reach from the dock and the SV103 :-)

The big kiddos came over for a Father's Day fishing trip. With my back acting up I spent most of the morning in the back seat as the official photographer. The bite was slow but they managed 5 in the boat in 3 hours plus several that came unbuttoned including a 6+ that Josh lost in the pads.

Winding down a Mini Vaca at the Fountains in Orlando. This trip we brought the Father in Law, and the Twins. Our Daughter and Son in Law also showed on Sunday to bring the boys over, so we had a sort of Mini Father's Day get-together.

Yesterday we spent most of the day at the pool with the boys and Dad. It was good to see him get out of the house again. Just walking very far wore him out and we committed to get him up and walking more. He doesn't do much anymore but walk from his bedroom to kitchen and back.

Packing up this morning and headed home.

Taylor decided to hit my private fishing spot this morning. It's a 2.5 acre lake I built and manage as a trophy lake for a buddy of mine. I don't use it our competition because I don't think it's fair but they sure are fun to catch.

Her first one was a 6+

Dang she caught a nice one!

Lee that's real nice of you not to use your super secret trophy bass hand built lake to kick our rear ends.
We thank you!

That's a nice bass Lee, congrats. You told us about that place last year during dinner at the classic. Great to see the spot is producing nice fish like it was suppose to.  ~c~

Thanks Lip. It's 2.5 acres that used to be pasture.  I had total control of the design other than the shape. I bought a couple of books by the "Pond Boss" and pretty much followed his recipe to the letter. 14' max depth down the center with rock piles and concrete culverts as deep structure, a spawning flat with gravel piles and huge tree stumps we "planted" before filling it. We built an aeration and fountain system to keep the O2 levels high during the summer and several other tricks I learned from my research. On a calm day 90% of the lake is reachable from the bank with a better than average cast.

It took a year from completion to get it filled, stabilized and fully stocked. Buckets and buckets of local minnows netted from the natural creek/pond that runs through the 80 acre property followed by 1000 quarter sized bluegills from the FWC and finally 750 largemouth fingerlings. Every year I relocate a couple of 2-3 pounders from somewhere else just just to add some new blood to the gene pool. We harvest 100's of pounds of tilapia every year with cast nets just to keep them from overrunning the lake.

I started this process in 2007. Today a 25 fish outing with at least one 5 pounder is expected with an 8 likely. We're still have not seen a 10.

Y'all are going to have so much fun that the next time you settle down will be when Stacie puts you in a home for crotchety old puckers....

That's awesome Lee, and one of my "dreams" to one day own enough property to be able to do that-- as well as manage some of it for Deer and Turkey.

Coming from Pa where I had "ownership" (it was Mom's Land) of 100 acres with another 500+/- surrounding it I had access to, to owning a 1/4 acre lot is a real kick in the groin.

j102

That's a great job Lee! You should be very proud of yourself and very happy with the outcome.
Perhaps next years Classic can be at Lee's Lake. lol

It really has been. I had to pond hop yesterday just to catch that one I posted. Summer bank fishing is tough.

It's that time of year again when the bite slows down as the water heats up. Bank fishing can be tough, boat fishing will have an advantage here because you can cover water looking for cover. That's what I will be doing if I go out this weekend.

I started with 6-8 rods rigged and just went fishing. At the first place that looked good I pulled  in and spent about an hour+ there working the pads on both sides of the river. They should of been there too, deep water near and a quick rise up onto a mid shallow flat. Also the tail end of an mid stream island with lots of current flowing past due to the recent rains. Nothing.

Fired up and ran to another spot and worked the pads there for I don't know how long. Gave the "last cast" and hooked the biggest of the day at 18 1/2, about 3 lbs. So I worked that area some more and like I personally find more often than not, no more hits.

Ran to another area and worked the bank line that was free from pads but has lots of under water logs and sticks. Nothing.

Ran to last area and worked the pads there and managed to pick up 2 more.

Caught all with a Swimming Ribbiontail Worm.

Tried Whopper Plopper (threw this quite a bit to give it an honest try, had 1 hit from a Gar), HB Frog, Buzz Frog, Spinnerbait, Flipped some mat edges, and Weightless Speedworm for a short time.

Spent about 7 1/2 - 8 hrs on the water for 3 bites.

Some pics.

I noticed on one of the fish I caught that was tied up in pads for a bit that the side of it's cheek was all torn open. Then I saw it again on another fish in a pic I had taken. I am wondering if this is due to switching to Braid for my worms and it is cutting the fishes face while they are fighting the line against the pads? Anyone ever notice this as well?
