The workforce is used as a pawn in the budget wars between the political parties. Rather than default on debt because of tight funding, the party out of power threatens to shutdown the government. During the shutdown, the workforce is not paid but will recover their pay when a funding bill is signed. They report to work, do their job, and wait for their pay. During this time, mortgages still have to be paid, food purchased, households run and all other things in normal life that require money. Financial institutions take money, not excuses. Some shutdowns have lasted days, others weeks. A hardship placed on the workforce as the political parties cat fight. At some point funding will be settled and passed. Only the workforce is harmed.

Agreed!!! The other thing that bugs the he!! out of me is they send folks into put up barriers and stand guard so folks can't get into places outside where no guards are stationed when there is no shutdown. I do think we need to rethink non-essential jobs though. If they are non-essential why do we have them? Who decides what is essential and what is not?
