If that is your first set of Pit Bull cutters you will love them. Bud got me some for Christmas and you cant get them away from me. I fish 99% braid and these cutters are awesome. Someone did say never ever cut anything but braid with them so that is all I ever use mine for and they still work like new today.

Bassin_VA

Yeah i wanted to see what the hype was about so i went out and cut a little braid off... like butter. I have some retractabale cutters i will use for everything else. Thanks for the heads up.

if i get her propped out right but that 20 footer of yours will eat my lunch im sure.  Maybe if I had a 20 instead of a 21 I'd have a good chance.

Thanks Lee!! A whole lot of hard work and luck, with a lot of blessings from the man upstairs.

Matt, do plan on what you're going to do before you buy a reel or buy the reel and and just have at it?

A little of both. Sometimes a good deal just falls into place, and I grab it. I got this reel BNIB for $125 a while back. Played with it a bit stock, but it wasnt good enough. Eventually landed a PE spool when Japan Tackle had them on sale. Upgraded the spool bearings, and levelwind. Added 6.8 gears out of a Megabass IP68, and a Zillion Type R handle off a Type R I bought for cheap to use for a parts reel. Some anodized parts from Hedgehog Studio, and this is the final result.

That reel looks amazing Matt! I hope one day I can get to that level of customization. What are the easier DIY upgrades that you would recommend to a novice?

Changing handles and spools are pretty tame and simple. Unles you are skilled at opening up a reel completely, I wouldnt attempt to go any further.

The spool swap is a key one for me, I want to purchase a few extra so I can have different line pre-spooled for different applications. I think it'll be cheaper than having multiple rigs.

The reel looks very nice matt!!! I've considered buying spools but have enough outfits I don't need to but I do carry some for my spinning outfits.
