Went to Cabelas after work last night. I was looking for a new Jerkbait rod. Just wasn't satisfied with the 13 Fishing 6'7 MF.

I was actually set on getting a Dobyns Sierra 683 or 684. They had both in stock and I messed with them for about half an hour. I was kinda turned off. Tip felt good and had plenty of give, but the rod was much heavier than what I thought. Both blanks didn't feel as sensitive as I had thought and didn't balance like I wished.

Spent another hour messing with stuff until I can across this Loomis. It's actually marked as a Spinnerbait rod. 6'9" MXF. I can't explain it, but the tip is an XF, but 6" down from the tip is has a ton of give. Then a ton of backbone. I know it labeled a 2 power, but I've always felt the Loomis 2 power is closer to a typical 2.5-3 power.

Spoiled it up with #8 FC Sniper. May be next week before I can try it out. I've got high hopes for this go around.

Nice looking setup, but come on now, fess up, we can all see the color matching going on here! :shocking:
Words are the exercise for the brain. Words are life expressed... without words we die a slow meaningless death. Silence to the grave is no way to go! So live! Use words! Power of the pen is sharper than any sword! Make it so! Mom said don't surround yourself with idiots! Fly higher than the Eagles... and don't run with the turkeys! Deus Vult!

Let us know how it goes. But for sure it's a nice looking setup.

I was going to put my Aldebaran MG7 on a rod, but the XT was a perfect match. I even threw an Aldebaran MG spool in to add some gold to match the rod!

Thanks. Will do.

The 2 power is fine. I've fished the twr 802 for stickbaits ,also a nice fluke rod.

Thanks. I was hoping you would chime in ;)

I had the JBR653 but didn't like now the tip and midsection acted. This 812 is hard to describe. Its kinda exactly what I wanted, or what I think I wanted.

you putting some gold daytons on that reel for handles?

with gold braid?   lo

looks awesome BTW.  That almost sounds like it would make a great light bait skipping rod!!

Rock, your Cabelas stocks Dobyns?

Yes, but only a few Sierra and Fury models in store. Online, they have most of all 4 lines

Cabelas is really good about keeping store inventory online up to date with what's actually in stock.
