Jerkbait/Topwater Rod/Line idears

I know I've done this topic before, but I thought I would bring it back and get more idears. I happened onto another one of my "holy grail" reels and want to eventually have another LSCR built for it. That said, I am wanting to get everyone's opinions on what they use for these two techniques. I'd prefer to have one rod for both.I am going to have two spools to switch out line types. I'll be using hard Jerkbaits and topwater baits no larger than say 1/2 oz with treble hooks.

I fish 80% from the bank and the rest out of Kayak or a boat if that helps.

7' M+ power Moderate action rod
10 lb. mono

It's not quite a medium and not quite a medium heavy. Haven't fished it enough yet to know for sure which it feels more like. I have fished it enough to know that it has a lot of backbone for a moderate rod and feels really tight and sturdy, which I like a lot- I hate fishing with noodles.
I feel like it should be a pretty versatile setup.

I had a Dobyns 635 CB non glass I used for a while but it was too much of a noodle to work the bait like I want. I had to use braid to get the action I wanted and I don't like braid for jerkbaits that suspend.

Alls I wanna know is what color line you gonna run on it? I got some red mono if you need.

When it comes to stickbaits the Falcon MM signature or weighless worm are about as good as it gets, I'd throw a spook on either as well.
I have a new Muse black in the 6ft.10 medium/fast that shows real promise also, but I need more time with it.
I like invisx or good ol' Maxima for stickbaits, Defier would be a good choice for both.

I don't know if this will be of much help to you brother because I prefer braid for just about everything including jerkbaits, but for jerkbaits I use Floro-Braid by Spiderwire because it sinks like flouro but has all the other advantages of braid. For topwaters I almost always use regular braid.

I like a shorter rod for jerkbaits, something like a 6' 3" or 6' 4". I also like a slightly slower tip than most folks, but the flouro-braid makes up for that. I personally feel that for me, I can get better control of the bait and the braid lets me feel more of what's going on.

If I'm working a topwater (other than a HB frog) that I need to walk I use the same setup or maybe go up as long as a 6' 9" rod, but I use a downward motion to walk the bait instead of the side motion most people use, so I need the shorter rod to avoid slapping water (or dirt from the bank) with the tip.

For other topwaters like buzzbaits, prop baits and occasionally even poppers where I work the rod in an upward position I use a longer rod - 7 ' minimum. Still use braid though.

Liike I said, probably not what you were looking for but that's how I roll.

I have that 13 Omen MF that is a 6"10 with a fast tip. I'll give that a shot.

I got the Ike series 6'4" moderate fast action from Abu for Jerks. Bought a Veritas 7'0" winch for top water.

Very impressed with the Ike series rod.

6'6" med spinning rod with a 30 size 20 widespool reel, 8 lb mono for shallow water. 7' med with a 7.1 to 1 baitcaster spooled with 8 or 10 for jerks and 15-17 for topwater. All mono of course. Flouro for suspending.

I have to throw another vote for the Abu Ike 6'4 delay series rod. it fits me comfortably when jerking. I have an old 6'5" BPS Rick Clunn IM7 rod that I use for topwaters. I fish mono on the RC rod and 8 pound test P Line FloroClear for the jerkbaits.

I like a stiffer rod to put a lot of action into the jerkbaits. It is so hard to explain what action as every rod maker is different.
A M to MH fast with a bit more tip than a jig rod. A 7' works great as you get a little more tip than a shorter rod. You won't have to rip as hard to get the action on jerks and stickbaits.
And when they want it fast it really moves jerks great.
As reels go I use a finesse with a fast retrieve.
