Fishing down in FL

Im planning on taking a week trip to the everglades, and other places that are known for some trophy peacocks and other wild species im just not sure how I should go about planning this trip. Ive seen videos where people just pull over on the side of the road and can catch fish. Thats the kind of adventure im after. Anyone have any good suggestions of places I should try out or hop some fences to get to good spots? lol

Hopping fences is never recommended especially in here in Miami were the trophy peacocks are being caught. I know of one famous youtuber who is a Miami native that does this often. I guarantee you, you are spotted jumping a fences, no good will come from it.

As far as hunting for Trophy peacock bass. The Everglades will not be the place for them. There peacock's in the glades, but reports trophy catches I do not hear of. These trophy peacock's are being caught from Residential lakes and urban canals, with live bait. Some areas are better than others for Peacocks, but just about any canal down here will have peacock bass.

As far as spots, Google earth will be your best bet, unless someone jumps on here and gives you specifics. I don't know were you are staying but towards the coast will limit your fresh water fishing opportunities. You will need to focus your attention more in the internal southern areas of South FL to find really nice peacock bass.

If you are looking for trophy peacock down here you may want to look into a guide. Unfortunately I don't know where to find trophy peas. Though most of our urban canals down here in Miami have peacock in them. Some local parks have peas.
Lakes like Lake Osborne and Lake Ida have peacock in them. Residential lakes and ponds do too. Blue Lagoon by the Miami Airport is supposed to have a healthy population of peas. But again not sure about the trophy ones.

I've seen some good sized ones from time to time that have bumped my soft plastic bait and have come out of the depths of a canal or pond. But haven't been able to get them to bite. But even those probably aren't the trophy sized ones you are looking for.

I think I probably just saw the video your referencing. Nice fish but not worth it.
I used to do that as a kid but as you get older and wiser and have more to lose you quit doing that!
