Had the day off and had to test this rig out. 32 degrees so hit a pond that was not frozen. This was the first setup that could cast a 1/4 oz. jig across this pond and with little effort. Zero backlashes and precise cast control.
The sensitivity was out of this world as I found a few hard bottom areas I was unaware of before.
And I caught the first bass of 2017, only a one lber but was fun.

Only bad thing was the guides freezing often, but even with that zero backlashes with being vigilant.

A little line conditioner on the guides helps for a while then its dip the rod but when the water is 33 degrees it doesn't help long.

Sounds like a sweet setup! I am really itching for some warmer weather too.

Sounds awesome!
My next rod purchase is either going to be a 4 power Champion or one of the CB series.
TTK has spoken.

I haven't used the Champion 744 yet but everyone that has used it has absolutely loved it. I'm going to have to check it out soon.

I got my 744 in September and love it.  It's hard to explain how well it loads and fishes being an inch longer than my 734's but it's a completely redesigned rod with it's own signature feel.  Very special stick for sure.

Yep.  I can't wait for ice-out. I was in the pet store the other day and I started fantasizing about wetting a line in the fish tanks.  lo
