Ok so I'm a bit of a lurker on here and have seen that you guys definitely know your jig making, soo I finally bought a few Do It molds and hooks etc.. I powder painted the heads and now I'm at the skirt part . I have a buddy I fish with that has his own company Hog Rustler baits and he has some really nice jigs. He recommended I check out USA SKIRTS and I have searched everywhere online to find this place to no avail. So I'm wondering have any of you guys heard of it? Seems like it doesn't exist lol any ideas are appreciated

Hello and welcome to Ultimate Bass.  I don't do any jig building but like you said there are lots of folks around here that do and glad you decided to come out and post. ;D

Welcome.

I've never heard of it before. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist though. I recommend Fishing Skirts .com and Living Rubber .com. So far I have been able to find everything I need with those two places.

Thanks lol I was only finding women's skirts to haha.. I ordered a few skirts from fishingskirts.com I got 70 dollars worth of skirts and as far as I can tell it looks like it's not going to go very far. Granted I've only looked through the package they sent me today this morning..I poured around 100 jigs and am basically looking for the best bang for the buck. I plan on passing a few of my jigs around and maybe selling a few custom ones. Has anyone ever ordered any skirts from Hagens ?

analfisherman

I can barely tie my own shoes.....much less create a fishing lure/jig.

But I have to ask........won't your buddy from Hog Rustler give you the link....or at least an address and/or phone number?

I checked directories I have for tackle manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers & sale reps and the name doesn't show up in any of them. Doesn't mean it's not a real company, just not listed.

Skirts Plus is a wholesale skirt supplier, but they only sell to licensed businesses, no retail, so Fishing Skirts.com is the next best option.

I've bought various things from Hagen's over the years, but never bought skirts from them. They're good folks to deal with and I've never been disappointed with buying from them!

Barlows Tackle, Jann's Netcraft are two other options, as is Lure Parts Online.

IMO, the only way you're going to get better pricing than what you will get from these suppliers is to buy wholesale, and that means being a licensed business, and meeting minimum order requirements, which can be quite high with some wholesale suppliers.

Yes, does seem odd that your buddy didn't hook you up!  ~shade

As has been mentioned, Fishingskirts .com. For hooks it's hard to beat CaptHooks.  Janns and Barlows can be pretty good, specially for molds. Powder Paint, Powder By the Pound and CS Coatings are the way to go, don't bother with the 4 ounce jars, way to expensive. You can google instructions for making a fluid bed for the powder and toaster ovens are cheap new and cheaper used.

Pickwickbasser, yes Welcome to UltimateBass!  We're glad to have you join us! ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

This is the place for all things bass fishing!  :)

Back to your question, perhaps your buddy doesn't want you competing with him?   lo

There are several folks here who make jigs, so join on in & once you find the skirts you want, please do post the results! We all enjoy seeing what others come up with! Actually, feel free to post at any stage along the way, if you think it might help someone learn! That's just one reason why we're here!  ~gf

At the top of this forum is a listing of various suppliers for tackle makers that might help you with finding the supplies that you seek. Of course if you're aware of a supplier not listed & wish to share the information, please let me know & we'll get it added!  :-*

The Tackle Box forum gets a little slow sometimes, because not everyone makes their own tackle so be glad to have another contributing member!  ;D

Thanks for the added info guys. I don't see this guy very often and as far as sending a link over his cell phone via text message lol you can pretty much forget that. Hes not the most tech savy of people. Im definitely going to get ahold of him and see if he can steer me in the right direction of this imaginary company lol thanks again for the help guys. I may try the wholesale route through his business possibly. I do know one thing though I am definitely a bit addicted to making jigs. I'm a powder coat painter for a elevator manufacturer so powder coat samples etc isn't very hard to come by so it doesn't hurt my pocket horribly so far. They throw a lot of there really old stock they have away. I made this jig the other night it's really just a prototype though

analfisherman

Pick,
good luck with your search and I look forward to seeing your jigs.
