Have a friend that wants to freshen up this reel and put some nicer spool bearings in. I'm gonna order them for him and need the right size(s). Also, do I need a pin removal tool for this spool?

I think so. Was there a different gold version? It's definitely gold, I do know that. Lol

They had the Carbonlite that was a gold color

Matt, how's that reel working for you?

Its a great reel for what it is. The fact that I got it for $75 shipped to me makes it well worth it. No way I would have paid the $270 retail for it, as its just a glorified Pro Qualifier. Either way, it makes a great reel to keep in the truck for when I want to toss a line. As a matter of fact I was using it this morning. With my clean and flush, this sucker can cast pretty good, as does exactly what I want it to do.

Did the carbonlight say Johnny Morris on it? I'll make sure today. I appreciate the help.

Im pretty sure, but dont quote me on it. Compare it with mine and see. One thing I can tell you that if its a dull gold, its the Carbonlite. If its polished gold like mine, it can only be the JM Gold.

Pretty sure it's the JM. I remember him talking about the heavy price tag. I had to hold my tongue, lol. I know it's shiny. He'll have me some pics today, hopefully.

He has caught many, many fish with that rig. I'll clean the old girl up on the inside when I figure out the bearing situation.  :)

The bearings in the reel are actually pretty good. Just a good flush and lube would do. Call Bryan at the Tackle Trap, he works on reels over there. Im sure he would know. Make sure you ask for PikeRoad Bryan.  lo

That's what I told him we should try first, but he wants to tinker. He's jealous of my range, lol. I'm scared of what's probably growing inside this reel as it's never been opened.  :shocking:

Thanks for the help!

That reel uses three bearings to support the spool, 3 X 8 X 4, 3 X 10 X 4, and 5 X 11 X 4.

I am a Boca Bearing retailer, if I can help you any further shoot me a P.M.

Get the Hedgehog Studio ZR bearings. No offense Tavery but Bocas ain't got nothing on them.

None taken, Hedgehog sells very good bearings, some people like to do business in U.S and both offer a good product.

The 3rd bearing doesn't do anything as far as casting.

Good deal! We got that reel dialed in pretty good today, so the bearings should be the icing on the cake for him! I appreciate the help.
