For those of you reel nuts out there. You ever curious of the difference of the internal design of the new I series compared to the previous E series? I recently did a service to a few of Bassinlous reels, and took the opportunity to do a side by side of the reels. Granted, his E series is actually the JDM version thats called the Scorpion. Her are a few shots to study.

Thanks for looking.

Is the I frame aluminium? I know the E series were. I'm not knocking the I's, well I kinda am, but replacing the E and D series made about as much sense as wiping your butt before your poo lo

Interesting. Looks like the internals are rearranged a bit but not much else different?
I like my I series Curados very much. No experience (yet) with an E series.
I'd be nervous tearing down two different reels side by side. Lol.

I can not tell from the images, but are these reels still using stock bearings? And stock drag washers?

I love my I series curado's too, but I did make some changes... and I was just wondering if that was also in the plan for these reels?
Words are the exercise for the brain. Words are life expressed... without words we die a slow meaningless death. Silence to the grave is no way to go! So live! Use words! Power of the pen is sharper than any sword! Make it so! Mom said don't surround yourself with idiots! Fly higher than the Eagles... and don't run with the turkeys! Deus Vult!

Yes, those reels are all stocked parts minus the handle. Those are HawgTech's. These particular reels suit me perfectly don't see the need to spend $$ funds on them.

Don't need no fancy drag when you use a set of pliers to tighten it down  ~roflmao

He will learn. He already has his first Daiwa baitcaster sitting new in its box for when he is ready.

I like both, but the 200 I feels like a revo, however the 70 I doesn't.

So was there any major differences in the build quality?

LgMouthGambler

As far as the quality, everything seems to be typical Shimano. I dont care for the plastic plate that is behind everything on the crank side of the I. Also, dont really care for how the sideplate swings open. The I is not my favorite thats for sure, but not that bad overall.

I haven't compared mine yet. I just know they do anything I ask them to. They really are great reels. The 70 is a nice reel also. I've had a hankering to try an MGL lately, but I'd have to get rid of some rods and reels that don't get much use. Really don't want to mess with selling and shipping. Lol.

Ha ha. I have to threaten UPS around here before they'll ship another rod for me. They broke my last rod from Lee. Costly mistake on their part.

rockchalk06

Knock on wood, but I ship all rods via USPS Priority Mail and haven't had a rabid gorilla kill one yet provided I use a PVC tube. Plus it's less than 20 dollars to ship a PVC tube if it's at 180" over all or less. Basically a 7'4" rod cut to 1-2" on either side works. 500 insurance and it bumps to about 26
