The stern braid has arrived.  The color is Florescent Blue.  Ordered 30# test (size of 8 mono).  Have not put it on a reel yet but will do so later and give it a try in the yard.  The out of the package color is white and should help out on seeing the line in our dark water here.  It appears to be nice and limp and the line has a coating on it that stern calls glide coat.  Their recommendation for knot is the good ol palomar but I will continue to use my favored Uni.

just remember to use more wraps with braid.  i double my line and for the 30 lb. test would use 9 to 10 wraps because of the small diameter.

Why not a Palomar?

because i have tested palomars and they fail once in a while.  the knot i tie never breaks or lets go.  i know many use the palomar and other knots and one should use what they have confidence in.  for me, i use something that has proved to not fail.

No particular reason.  Just habit I guess.  Probably should move back to Palomar since the ol eyes don't work as well as they used to

I have never had a palomar slip of break. Weird, maybe not cinched down correctly I could see that. I usually leave an inch of tag, maybe burn the tip of the tag with a lighter if needed.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Got mine today. Looks interesting. It isn't "clear" its actually white, but it kind of has a translucent look to it. I'm curious to see how visible it is during the day in the water compared to mono and green braid.
