who do you use for insurance, looking for ins for my boat, and just wanted opinions. someone said Worldwide Marine, but I wanted to check with the pro's

Worldwide Marine is a good one.

I've found that Progressive has been really good. The problem though is you have to really be specific with them. To get solid coverage, that will be useful to an angler, you have to pay attention and it's usually going to cost you more than their flat rate. However, even their beefed up coverage is cheaper than some others.

It's kind of backwards but getting with your local mechanics and find out which companies they like to use. They will tell you who has the best adjusters and who has adjusters that are out to prevent paying on a claim. We pay insurance to have it when we need it, not fight for what we believe is due us. A couple quick phone calls can save you a lot of heart ache if you are unfortunate and need it.

Again Progressive is good in our area but you definitely get what you pay for so look at their plans very closely. Currently they offer things like Lower Unit Replacement no matter what happens. This is very handy in our area LOL

I got both of my boats insured with GEICO.  The few times I've had to use them the rep's were extremely helpful I had my $$$ within 3 - 5 days.

Good luck with getting your boat insurance.

I have rider on my Homeowner's policy.  I wouldn't use Progressive if I had to pay twice as much somewhere else because of the politics of CEO Peter Lewis.   I won't get into it here, but it's easy to google.

We use Allstate for most everything else so I use it for the boat and trailer, less than 100$ a year.

We have everything (home, vehicles, boat) through State Farm. They accept a declared value on the boat, motor, and gear. I'm fortunate to not ever have had a claim on the boat but I've thrown all kinds of what if type claim questions at them and have been pleased with the answers I get.

LOL that's what the adjuster said when I called  ~roflmao

Years ago, I was on I-44 in Missouri and it was drizzling. A lady in a car in front of me slammed on her brakes because a cat walked into the road. I looked in my side mirror, the road was clean and while braking moved to the left lane.

The next thing I know I'm jack knifed sliding through the median up into oncoming traffic. When I hit the asphalt sliding into oncoming traffic, everything straightened out but the whole rig was sliding backwards. A lady in a mini van hit the back of the boat and launched it up and over the truck. Was quite a view  :shocking:

God was watching everyone that day. The only injury was the lady driving the van received a burn on her forearm from the airbag. Considering I was doing 20-30 mph backwards and she was probably doing at least the speed limit of 70 mph it was a hell of a collision. She had her 7 year old son sitting on a cooler between the seats of the mini van and he was not hurt.

Just proves you need to strap your kids in, you never know when some idiot is going to throw a boat at you  :surrender:

Wow! And the lady who caused the mess was oblivious to it all.

She stopped and came back. Once the truckers pushed my trailerless boat off the hi-way into the median and got traffic flowing again. The cops and EMS showed up, that's when she came over and told everyone that she braked to a skid because she seen a kitty. I was ticketed for following to close for conditions. :surrender: The actual problem... I was driving my almost complete 77 Chevy pick up. The right rear brake cylinder was leaking and had made mush out of the brake pads. When I hit the brakes this particular time it locked that wheel up, and with the wet roads, sent me into the jack knife. The lady stopping in front of me made me hit them harder than a regular brake but it wasn't her fault (she's still stupid for braking on a freeway for a cat), it was mechanical failure on my truck. Obviously I didn't figure this out until I got it home and was trying to figure out what the hell happened and tore into things.
