I have been looking at a Motorguide Xi5 trolling motor and also some new electronics.
I really like the idea of cleaning up my deck of foot control and sonar wiring so I would like to use the integrated transducer on the Xi5. I have noticed though that the integrated transducer says it is a 83/200 kHz and the Lowrance Hook 9 I was looking at says it uses a "455/800 kHz DS Imaging, Med, High (CHIRP) 83 kHz/200 kHz"
What does this mean? Will all the features on the Hook 9 work with the integrated transducer on the Xi5?
Of course all this could change if I decide I want to get SI on the bow as well. If I'm not mistaken the integrated transducer will not work with SI will it?

Cojab, if it works with the remote control you'll want the foot control when the wind comes up, trust me. It's why I sold my powerdrive with I-Pilot and bought a Terrova. The built in 'ducer is for broadband, you si and ds uses a separate ducer. normally. If I'm wrong someone will come on and correct me. But I do know you'll wish you had the foot control. you'll spend most of your time playing with the remote wnd not fishing when a breeze comes up.

Rodney is correct, the DI will require a broad band ducer.

I see. So the 455/800 kHz is the broadband side of the transducer.

And Rodney, that is one of the advantages to me of the Xi5 over the Terrova, the foot pedal is completely wireless. Put it anywhere on the boat, no wires. Just keep a spare set of batteries on hand just in case!

Broadband Sonar is the terminology that Lowrance uses for the 2d software on the HDS and Elite Ti series units.....Also if you want Sidescan then you will have to jump up to the Elite Ti or HDS units.....

Cojab, the 455/800 would be the DI 'ducer, the 83/200 is the broadband 'ducer. I didn't know the foot control is wireless, I'm  Minn Kota guy, bad experience with Motor Guide.
