Went out to my local park where there are 3 lakes. One is an FWC Fish Management Lake. They stock it with catfish every year and have some fish feeders. The fishing regulations are different than our usual regulations. In fact for as long as I have been fishing it Bass have been catch and release only. Today I got a quick glimps of the regulations and noticed a 16 in there. I read it and realized it now says possession of bass less than 16 inches is prohibited.

So does anyone know why they would allow people to possess bass larger than 16 inches? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Rick they changed the regulations this year I know for state wide. In which there is no size minimum but only or one over 16 can be kept. So with this added they can only have 5 small fish.

Aka too many small fish in the lake.. some need culled to let the bigger ones get bigger with less fight from little guys.

My hopes are less people keeping five 4-6lbers and will keep 13-16 inch fish.. which is the best eating size anyways IMO.

The regulations on this lake are different than our regulations here in South Florida.

As you mentioned there are too many small fish in the lake. But the sign says it is prohibited to possess bass smaller than 16 inches. If they want to get small fish out wouldn't they need to say possession of bass 16 inches or larger is prohibited?

So this makes it legal for someone to keep bass over 16 inches meaning they are allowing people to take the bigger fish out no the smaller ones.

Oh I didn't get the less.. so basically you can keep one fish a day.. it has to be 16" or better. That is odd. Maybe they have shocked them up and that's what are too many of?

Tenaroc is 10 minutes west of me, different lakes have different limits in those.. they shock them often. The whole area is neat.. just never caught anything lol

I doubt that. I rarely catch fish bigger than 16 inches out of there. There is an abundance of small fish in there.
Even the fish I catch on frogs out there are in the 14-15 inch range.

But I dunno lol.

Tenoroc is a trip.  I used to deal with them a lot with Mosquito Control.  There were a couple of guys there that could catch a fish anywhere, even your bathtub, they sure did know their stuff.  Each pit had a survey schedule which included shocking and they would compare it with the kreel list that was handed back in to get various kinds of data.

Have you fished any of their off site pits?  We hit a couple when they first opened them and they were fantastic, only thing is you need a big mud truck and little mud puppy for a boat.
