I found my #1 a few days ago and make me curious what everyone's Holy Grail Reel is. I mean the reel if money were no option you'd buy?

My new top 5 would be:

Shimano Chronarch 100D7
Shimano Metanium 100MG7 V2
Shimano Metanium 100MG7 DC
Shimano Core 100MG7
Daiwa Zillion Type R

Tavery5

Any of these would be nice to have

West6550

Honestly I would take 10 more Lew's TourneyPros like the one I already have. Not the newer TP's, more of my older style ones. I have had the one, stock gears, bearings and all for 3 years now and is just a smooth as the day I got it. Probably time to have it cleaned though.

I would probably try a SV spooled Daiwa as well.

I would like to have a Van Staal, yea its a spinning reel, but it is the ultimate in my book.

Not really interested in bling, my BPS reels work nice and I like the price. If I had to name some it would most likely be older Quatum Energys, they fit my hand, are smooth even if they weigh a bit more, and they are easy to tear down for maintence.

Old Fishermen never die, their rods just go limp.

TD Zillions....oh wait, I own them.  lo

I really want a TD ito, but I could never fish it.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

That is the way I would be with the Van Staal, aw heck I'm that way with my Spinfisher V's.  They are just too pretty to use.  ~b~

That's the love I have for the D series. So easy to work on if needed. The design makes the spool lock down as tight as possible. You can change the breaks without releasing any tension on the spool too. They do have a sort of bling to them, but it's subtle.

Those IS series are sweet, but they'd be self queens only

If money wasn't an issue I guess I would go with the higher end Daiwa reels. I am so impressed with the Tatula line that I would have to jump into the Zillions and Steez TWS s reels.
PB: 6lbs 5oz / 24.25 inches.

TD Ito would be high on my list as well.
Kind of hard to say for sure! There are so many that I'd love to have. A Shimano Antares is there. A Metanium MGL too, and I already own one. Any high end Megabass reel.

Ive owned a Steez 100SHA, Steez LTD ITO SV and a Megabass IS79 (still a Steez). The only one of those I was kinda impressed with was the 100SHA. We're talking 500 dollar reels and they felt weak and under powered. I was kinda disappointed.

The Metanium MGL blew my skirt way up. I love mine. Much better improvement over the 2013 Metanium. Aluminum frame, 96mm handle and the ability to add a worm gear bearing. It's not a D series, but Shimano hit the MGL about 415 feet

Shimano core 51mg7.
Shimano met 101xg.
Shimano chronarch/curado 201e7.
Lews bb1-7.
Shimano chronarch ci4151.

Mine is a completely stock HG and I'm really impressed by it. You can really feel the micro gearing on the retrieve, and the thing casts like no other- incredible distance. Hoping to add a 94 mm Hawgtech handle, colored drag star and cast control cap and maybe do a bit of bearing upgrades but we'll see. It's an amazing reel. I would be perfectly happy with an arsenal full of them but I like trying other things too much. And I couldn't afford an arsenal of MGLs right away. :)

I've got one tricked and one stock. Both are absolute badas* reels. Mine are XG's I got from Tackle Traps sale they had. Last one came with an extra spool too.

I love the fact that you can put a bearing in the worm gear. Best 10 dollar upgrade for that reel. The spool bearing is a bear as you have to  remove an e-clip to get it off, but two ZR's really open it up.

Here is one of mine. It's waiting a rod from the master.

Being a south paw, eBay is your friend or foe depending on how you look at it lo There are so many Shimano 1's in premo shape and killer prices it makes me want to swap sides lo

That deep blue and those yumeya knobs... absolutely incredible look! I'm tentatively planning to go with green on my Met to match the green wraps on the Orochi XX rod it sits on.

I consider this beauty as my Holy grail, having a couple more would be cool, but that's not happening. Lol!!

I bet man. I pitched and punched for a few hours today and my shoulder feels great. I need to get an OAW on this combo, but dang it's so light.

I would love to have a Chronarch 100 D7 or a TD Ito. Both brand spanking new, of course.

The TD Zillion type r was my grail, but since I sourced a pair of them NIB I have switched to the above.
