When bank fishing what do you find is your ideal fishing line to use?

In my case I have narrowed down my line to almost one. I will throw a copoly line 95% of the time when bank fishing. Reason being, my fishing areas are waterways carved through limestone. Braid, although its a very tough line, does not stand a chance against limestone. Copoly in this instance fairs much better, thus increasing the chances of landing my catch. Braid, however, is my go to line when I'm specifically frog fishing from the bank.

What say you?

If I have to go with just one it's 30 lb braid with an assortment of leader materials.

Braid here, sometimes without a leader, either 20, 30 or 40 lbs test.
In clear waters I sometimes downside to 15 lbs test braid with a short leader.

I use 40-50lb braid. Lots of pads and slop where I fish.

20lb senshi has been my go to since I started using it. Because with mono I can work topwater baits, and sinking baits it is versatile. With my Fuego and 2 spools, one has senshi, the other has 40 braid. The braid comes out for my frog fishing unless the water is clear. In which case I will still use the mono for the frog.

If I know I am only going to throw bottom contact baits then I will use my reel that has 15lb InvizX. Which I just started using and absolutely loved.

So there isn't just 1 ideal fishing line for me. It all depends on what I plan on using and where I plan on fishing.

Braid 99% of the time. Been a while now since I've used a leader.

I have a couple of different lines I use depending on where I am going to be.

Most of the time it is braid with a long leader, but there are places that I fish that need abrasion resistance the whole length of the line, then I opt for a copoly or mono.

Line weights also depend on when and where I'm going to be, it can range from 20 to 60lb braid, and 8 to 25lb copoly / mono.  Anything over 25lb is going to be braid, hands down.

How us inviz x for bottom baits? I've heard that abraz x is better? Thoughts?

How is braid for jigs? Is it easy to keep tension on the line while dragging?

I use 50 -65lb PP and hardly ever use a leader. Although my treble hooked cranks and topwaters suffer sometimes. lol

So far I'm a fan. I seem to feel a lot with it. I've never tried that other one or any other fluoro for that matter. So I can't compare it to anything.

I feel like it has better sensitivity than any mono I've used including senshi which I believe is very sensitive for mono.

Braid is still more sensitive in my opinion.

Braid is great for jigs, you will feel what the jig is doing on the bottom and,  depending on your gear, the transmission of the bait will be enhanced.

After reading over several of the discussions here on the bank fishing forum in regards to the fishing line that's mostly used. I decided to give FC one more try. I had a accumulated a fair amount of $$ on my BPS card so I splurged and picked up a 200 yd spool of 15 lb Seaguar InvisX, looking at the diameter of this line, its equivalent to YZ's 12 lb line. Lets see how it goes this time around. I will keep you all posted as far as thoughts after I fish it this week a couple of times.

Good choice Lou. My brother in law swears by InvisX. I love the cheaper Seaguar Red Label. 12 lb. Is my go to for most bank fishing applications, for topwater I go with 12 lb Trilene XL or  Big Game, frogging I go with 50 lb. Power Pro or Tuf Line XP.

I've got a spool of Red Label and I use it for leader for my saltwater fishing. I've used it for leader on my braid too.
I didn''t want to spool an entire real with it because it just doesn't feel as soft and supple as invizx and I need a line that is manageable.

I look for thinner diameter lines and I like the fact that it's thinner than 15YZ. I know YZ has unbelievable break strength. Does invizx compare LB for LB? Not sure yet.

Agreed unless you're fishing rocky areas, braid isn't the best choice for that, I'd go with FC, itis more abrasion resistant. Braid would be the best choice in grass, works like a weed wacker.

I mostly use Trilene XT and Big Game. All of their lines are good lines.

I tried out the new FC line for a bit, unfortunately I couldn't test it on a catch. However, the line does enhance the transmission of what your bait is doing more so than copoly. When I catch some fish I will report again.

same! plus the feeling of the hit on a braid is like a brick, pretty awesome

Total Novice question:

I am new to braid but have found it a godsend in all the cover I deal with. I confess to have never used a leader.

Why use a leader? I understand the fish not seeing the line, but but using a leader, aren't I defeating the purpose of having the line strength to pull one in from pads and brush? My mono will then become my fail point. Am I confused?

Smallie_Stalker

Personally I don't think you are confused at all. I use braid almost exclusively and haven't used a leader for a long time now. Everybody has to find what works best for them, and for me this is what gets the job done the lion's share of the time.
