I'm looking for sponsors, but not for my fishing prowess. Rather, I'd ask you to sponsor me as an outdoor writer.
I am currently in talks with three literary agents for a book that will be ready for publication by Spring/Summer of 2007.
I know what you're thinking...another weekend angler with delusions of being the next Izaak Walton. But rest assured, I am a writer first and foremost.
I am currently employed as a senior editor with Workbench magazine. All told, I have more than a decade of experience writing and editing for both newspapers and consumer magazines.
Admittedly, this is my first foray in book publishing, but I start the process with the decided advantage of an insider's perspective of the publishing industry and my demonstrated ability to create concise, informative, and entertaining copy.
The greatest challenge I face is absorbing the cost of researching the book. I will have to travel extensively to talk to some real bass fisherman, explore their waters, and record their prowess for others to learn from.
Thus, I would like to speak with fishing products manufacturers who are interested in helping defray those costs in exchange for unparalleled exposure in the book, the accompanying blog, an inevitable book tour, and other personal engagements as contracted.
I hesitate to reveal too much detail about the book before the deal is sealed, but would be happy to go further in depth for serious inquiries.
