I fish mostly back water. I have fished the rocks and the wood wing damns in the main river and caught a few fish.

The main channel, like along the rocks as you said or any bank line on the channel.  Say you launch from the Teag "spelling" parkway fishing up and down the bank lines I guess thats what I mean on main river.  Not necessary this far north but that type of river fishing.

TB44

yeah mostly all backwater then....I hardly ever main channel except the openeing of rock jetties!

I know it is a weekday, but is anyone else planning on going tomorrow?

We plan to get to Clark's at 6, eat breakfast, then hit the river. I plan to do lots of riding & looking as well as fishing. I have a couple of spots past the port to check then a couple of spots several miles south of the lock to try also. Hopefully, I can find at least a coupl eof fish tomorrow!

Truth is for me there are several reasons I do not like the River.
For the most part until the last few years it has been a little fish numbers lake.
It is hard to get around in most of the off river areas, stumps, logs etc. I get tired of fighting the stickups.
It is over an hour from my house.
But the number one reason is the size of the fish, I know I am not going to catch a 6,7 or 8 lb. Bass  :-*

I have fished lots of lakes and rivers in the south the last 4.5 years. Since moving here in August have not been skunked one time on the River.  I can not say that about other places I have fished, and I am talking about quality fisheries such as Lake Seminole GA, Lake Martin AL, the Louisiana Delta, and the Tombiggbee waterway on the MS/AL border.  Not to mention the small rivers and lakes in South Mississippi where I lived before being transferred to Barksdale.  I like it so much I am going again on Thursday on my day off!

Fogy , Im feeling you buddy . I did get lucky and catch a small limit in a charity tourney there a couple of years ago . That was the last time I fished for bass there . May not get to prefish for our club tourney,so we may be chunkin and reeling and hoping for the best.

b1jeremy

when is your club tourny...i mayu be able to help ya ill let you in on the pattern that i have them on and where...just pm me

BIG PAPA

Shoot yeah Fogy I can remember tourney's on the river with 15 or more fisherman where only 3 or 4 managed to weigh in a fish. But I have seen that on most lakes around here also.

You just have to spend time on the river. It was the hardest lake around here for me to develop any confidence on. I love it now. It's the most versatile fisheries in this area next to Toledo. There are so many different patterns available. You can go out there and fish any way you want and catch.

TB44

BHenke,

Ive got a lake for you to fish.  I havent been out there this year but if the water is right which I imagine it prob 2 feet low.  Flag lake can be an awesome place! Lots of fish in that little lake!  Also moon and harmony but ive never bass fished out there either bream or crappie.

bassadict69

Fished today from about 7 til 2pm. Caught 2 fish in Caspianna. One on a white crankbait & one on a senko around stumps in about 5-6 ft of water. Both were about 1-1/2lbs.

Ran as far north as just past the port. Fished several jetties & several cuts or oxbows or whatever you want to call them. Fished beehive also. No other bites at all!

bryan

fished the river today from 0930 till 1500 and ended up with 12 bass.  all fish came on a white and chartreuse spinner bait.  most of the fish were small but did manage a 4 pounder.  most of the fish were in 5 feet of water on lay down logs with some grass. most were caught in the white house area.  after the wind stop blowing the fish seemed to quit bitting.

Trey and I went to the River today from about 9:30 to 2:30. (Could not talk him into going fishing) I caught a couple on traps and personally left fiberglass from my boat on at least 1,000 stumps  :'(

bassadict69

DANG IT! We were telling ourselves all day that the fish just weren't biting...So much for that idea!

Ok, next question! Where is White House?

bryan

if you hit the river from clarks go north about a mile and look to your right and there will be a break in the rocks. i think some people call it blackie snyders.  when the rocks start running parallel to the river just follow it and you cant miss the cut.

TB44

papa

you must have some seriously bad luck when it comes to the river and stumps! Ive never had as much prob as u seem to have!

kw4570gov

Bassadict69,

Be careful when you go through the cut in the rocks going into White House. Cross the north end of the opening with your outboard trimmed way up. I idle up to it then trim my motor up and coast across. Trust me there are some shallow rocks in that opening

I am talking about all the little stickups and stumps you get stuck on when fishing anywhere off of the river.
That alone is enough to make me crazy :surrender:
