BIG PAPA

Trey and I just could not get started today. On our only prefish day we had caught small keepers at several jetties and were determined to find some fish on the rocks. When we finally decided to go back to some shallow grass we caught 3 keepers and several short fish in only a few min. on Yeah Spinnerbaits. We just did not make the move soon enough.

Shawn & I fished the TCTC Sunday also. We started out trying to fish Dozer point. Duck hunters had already laid claim to it so we fished the bank line on the north side of that point. Had 2 blowups on a Cavitron buzzbait but missed. After the hunters left,we fished Dozer with no takers. Ran north to another oxbow with no luck.

Decided to run south & lock through. Fished the tip of the first jetty running parallel with the river & caught 2 on white cranks. Went to the tip of the next jetty & caught another one. Thought we had figured it out & fished several more jetties without a bite. Ran several more miles south & found a pocket of water that was loaded with shad. Seen some schooling & started catching white bass one after another. Pulled one more black bass out of there. Caught probably 30 white bass. All on white cranks & shad baby 1-

BassBUFF

We fished the TCTC yesterday. Caught 5 black bass (3 weigh fish) and one huge white bass. All came off white 3/8oz spinnerbait in shallow water with grass on the main river points. Guess we should have used the 1/4oz.

GEO

Almost everyone was cathcing fish on white spinnerbaits, but Rhonda and I were catching our fish on Fluke's in the pad's.  Just wish we would have figured that out earlier.  This is just a shot in the dark but if somebody reads this that might have picked up two batteries off the back porch of clarks could they please send me a message so that I can get those batteries back.  They were good batteries just weren't charged.  I had to buy two new batteries that morning and was told they would be safe there until the tournament was over.  Well they were gone that afternoon.

GEO, very sorry to hear about the batteries.....that just ain't right.  I'd like to think we could at least trust our fellow fishermen.   :(

Been watching the Bassmaster Open results on the Red and one angler was talking about catching fish while fishing "floats"...what is he talking about...weeds..laydowns..?

Also Geo...sorry to hear about your batteries...I do hate a thief..disgusting

Mike Noble

Fished the River today in the Port Lake area with railroader.  Only managed to put 4 fish in the boat....one on spinnerbait, 2 on crankbaits (guess who caught those) and one on a worm.  Could not really find anything productive in the area.  Water temps ranged from 65 to 67...wind was pretty tough.

Hey thanks for letting me tag a long i had a great time and i didnt get skunked.  ~c~ it was the first time i have been to the port in about 3-4 yrs. i caught two on cranks off some rock jettes and one on a worm fishing down the main river, i need to go hit the red one more time to check on a spot and hope it works cause i will hate to make a 20+ mile run for nothing. maybe all of the TCTC guys fihing the ABA will take a check, how cool would that be..  ~c~

Hawgwild

Hi Mike...Nice to see you on the lake...

I finally had a little better day on the Red today....Fished mostly Caspiano

Caught 12 or so fish....with the best one at 14.5...2 at 13+...4 at 12+ several just under and some little ones..

Fished a little bit of everything, but the most came off a worm and rattletrap....caught one of the
13's on a llip crankbait... and a few others on a small spinner.....

Kinda spooky...Was fishing down one bank and there was a small hollow log sticking out of the water at an angle...got to looking a little closer and a huge Water Mocason had it's head sticking out of the center of it.....got a little closer and it pulled back down into the log....That could really give someone a very bad day...

Mike Cork

Good to see you too RattlinScottie I looked for you threw out the day and didn't find you :-\ you must be deep in the cover ;) probably hiding from all the duck hunters :o boy there was a lot of shooting going on.

Let see I caught on 12 incher on a sand bar with a spinner bait then one 12 incher in a bayou on a carolina rig then one about 3 pounds on a point of the main river on a texas rigged worm and then another one about 14 inches on a cut off the main river on a fluke :-\

Yep got that pattern nailed down :'(

Yep...Sounds like one of those "spread" patterns....I get those alot...  :)

And to top all that off we got a front pushing through the next few days and temps dropping  down in 60's days and 30's nightime.... Who knows...maybe that will help a little..ha

I pretty much stayed in Caspiano from front all the way around to the back side.. Just picked the cover apart with worm then sometimes came back around with rattletrap....and tried to check out other areas in there I haven't been able to fish much yet due to winds.....I did try carolina rig some but no hits..

Caspy seems to be a right popular place with boats in and out all morning....Most were flipping the banks in close so I backed off a little and made longer casts with a worm...Fish were pretty much scattered here also from front to back..

At least there wern't any duck hunters back in there.....just snakes...  :o

Scottie

Mike Cork

Yep it can be very popular back there, it's been a while for me but I know a lot of folks fish back there. There are a ton of fish caught too. No duck hunters, that is suprising I figured it would be full of them :-\ Good deal for you though, is that where you are headed during the ABA next week :-*

Mi Mike....Yep...I'll probably spend most of my time in there during the ABA..Got a few other things I wanted to try in that area also....Last week some folks had a small tourney and one boat was doing OK in the area, but stayed more out toward the river....Had a couple of other spots I may try to fish, but duck hunters will have those covered early...may be able to fish those  later in the day if things don't go well in Caspy..

Mike Noble

Fished the river today in the ABA...EXTREMELY tough for me.  I could just not find the fish or get them to bite.  Only had one bite, only caught one fish...a 13 incher.  It came on a white spinnerbait.

well...had the best tourny ive ever had today...keep in mind i am new at this stuff...me and ernie caught between 35 and 40 fish...no lie...they were on all day for us...i weighed 4 and he did the same...i looked for the 5th forever lol..it really is the toughest fish to catch...had a 3 pounder to the edge of the boat as he grabbed the net and she spit it at me...could have sworn i heard her laugh as she swam away lol...then let another one spit it about 305...weigh fish as well...well congrats to those in the money and we hope to see ya again soon...be safe...Jeremy

Mike Noble

Great job b1jeremy.  What was the lure or lures of choice for your fish?  Did y'all lock thru or stay in pool 5?

Hi folks...Had an OK day on the Red in the ABA tourny....8.41 lbs....just couldn't get a bigger fish in the boat....my largest was a little over 15" and the rest 13's and 14's...Good start though as I had 3 keepers in the boat first 30 mins. of fishing.. :)

Had two fish get off that hung up on the same stick-up...both would have been keepers...one difinitely was over 3 lbs...... :'(

Caught most of my fish on 7" watermellon/red Berkley power worm...A few on Rattletrap...a couple on Punkinseed lizard on carolina rig...and a couple on watermellon/red Baby Brush Hog.....

Anyway..enjoyed the day and tourny and see everyone back there again on a couple of weeks...

Scottie..

Mike Cork

Fished the ABA today on the Red. It took 12.52 to win and 8.98 to take a check, guess where I came in with 8.90 yep one out of the money.

Caugth fish most of the day, 13 keepers in all but most of them were 12-13 inches long just couldn't get get that big bite. All fish came on spinner baits pretty shallow.

Guess what Mr. Noble, that goof I made  :shocking: looks like it cost me getting my gas money back :'( missed a check by by .08 , how many ounces is that any way :roll2:

I guess 11th out of 62 boats isn't too bad ~c~ Congrats to the money winners :toot:

didnt lock through...we stayed on the upper side of the lock...i am not to familiar with the river so i am not to sure as to the name of the area we were in..i will say that i lost a hoss cat at the boat about 100 pm...on a bandit 200 series...got it all the way to the boat and before the net could get in the water she jumped and threw it...needless to say that was the end of my mental day lol..cought her in 19ft of water off of one of the jetties...im sure someone on here saw my little temper tantrum i threw when she got off lol...Jeremy
