Red River Bass Fishing Reports

well looks like it will be tough for everyone, i know alot more has gone to the red they are keeping quite so they must be on fish.. we hope to atlest bring some weigh fish in we have a few secret spots that we are saving for sunday so im ready....

I was on the Red in 2002 and caught some fish. Wonder if they are still there?

Secret spots...there are no secret spots. Are they like those last month on Caddo?

Mke, if it has truely been that long since you were there (and I bet it has, knowing how much you like it) you are in for a suprise it has changed quite a bit. A lot of the spots I used to like are silted in or completely grassed up

It's like fishing a band new body of water to me $:-\$

As per my fishing log, the last day on the River was June 23, 2002. I might get lost.

there is hardly any trees left out in front of clarks it looks very different

and where did all the Hyacin ( not sure on the spelling ) come from? man it was every where.

That has been on the River for years. I know in 2000 it was so heavy in areas that it was tough to get thru. But I know they have sprayed in years past also.

I went over to the bee-hive area and you can get in there its solid, i dont remember it being this bad in resent years...

Well I would say that I am on fish, but since I don't have a boat anymore I would be lying. I hope that my fish are still around from my LMA tournament earlier this month.

I'm going to pull a Noble for this one. I found a spot that holds good fish and I will live or die at that spot most of the day. I've been able to fish the red in the past 2 weeks so who knows they may be there and they may not.

Mike...I saw below you mentioned the ALBC Top 25 T on the Red this past weekend. A couple of guys from my club (Hawgherders) won it. Congrats to Chris Wayand & Matt Scofield!

I can't say I recall what their winning weight was though. I didn't fish the tournament, and like you I heard there was a relatively low turnout this year.

They said that everyone that fished it was going to the championship because they didn't have 25 sign up

I would be very interested to know what the winning weight was, I found it very very tough for me

JR and Steve Alexander fished that tourney and they said the winning weight was 12 and some change. They finished 6th with 7 pounds.

Got to spend some time on the Red this morning...Got on the water about daylight and eased on into the Caspiano area...Haven't ever fished the Red much, but this area looks pretty good to me....

As to fish I didn't do any good at all.. Rattletraps, spinners, jigs, etc. Finally started getting some hits using a watermellon/red baby brush hog flipping down some of the banks but no hookups......except a nice gogle-eye..

Did catch a few white bass on down around one of the bends on rattletrap but didn't try them very long..

Another bass club was having a tournament..about 10 boats from somewhere in Mississippi...One person I talked to had 2 fish in the boat and had lost another good one. He was flipping the same color baby brush hog down one of the banks in the Caspiano area..

Wind got a little stiff but the day warmed up pretty good...water temp was in the 63-65 degree range..

Lots of folks were out brushing their duck blinds.. I believe regular duck season opens up in that zone next week end so might want to watch out for that..

Fished the River today in the TCTC tournament. Caught 8 fish total, all would weigh. Best 5 weighed 9.82. All of the fish came on a white spinnerbait in shallow water. Water temps ranged from 68 to 71.

Me and Kennyp fished the River today in the TCTC tournament. caught 7 bass and 1 hugh bowfin. All the but 1 bass came on a 1/4 oz white spinnerbait fished in grass around stumps. water was clear and 67-69. Best 5 went 5.98 lbs for 4th place.

The Red was tough for Laurie and I today, we caught 8 but only two would weigh. Both keepers came on a spinner bait in 8 foot of water.
