Well, it's 11:00 AM (EST) on Firday and the boat and truck are packed up and ready to go. As soon as my wife and two rods get here, we're out a here!

Hopefully we'll see some of you around town. If you see a 21.5' White w/ Canadian Blue insert Aries Ram 2100, Merc 225 EFI being pulled by a white Suburban that's me.

Talk at ( type ) everyone when we get back on the 9th.

Be good.

Well me and Kennyp fished the red today from 0630-1300. Water was lightly stained in the oxbows and 75-79 degrees. Did catch 3 bass and a bowfin. Mostly just trying to find new water and enjoy the day. All fish came on soft plastics.

Winning 3 day total for the ABA was 25.82    Best day had 11-12 pounds... I'm definately kicking myself for not getting the things i needed for that tourny.  I had better days in the dead of summer.
I can't believe that guy won with a bag that size at this time of year.  Cold front was moving in the water was pretty clear even on the main river.

Well we're back from 6 straight days on the Red.

Casey and I found some fish in pool #4 on Sunday and Monday with Sunday being the better of the two days. Keepers were being caught on crankbaits (white), spinnerbaits (white w/ blue and nickle willow leaf), and the better keepers on t-rig paca craw (1/4 oz watermelon red). Caught fish in the vertical wood making points and straight banks w/ a ledge. Monday afternoon we got into schoolers in the 14" range behind a jettie and a friend was on an early morning frog bite. Then something changed. Tuesday I had very few bites but one very big fish on a jig (no hook set). Wednesday tried my spots but could not get the fish to bite, weighted one fish. Thursday went non-boater in pool five. Boater had 10 lbs and I had 5.6 lbs. Fish were caught on a crankbait (chartreuse w/ blue back) along horizontal wood on the main river. Friday we went for that big bite to with no luck. A buddy averaged a 7.5 lb per day with a rattle trap.

We enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones. The Shreveport / Bossier City was a nice place to visit and the people in the area took care of us. Sorry I was not able to catch up with Mike and Laurie but the 18 hours days were killer.

R Tilson, thanks for the report ~c~ We were at weigh in all three days keeping score and trying to get pictures of everyone as they came threw the line. If you look on the main site we got pic's of you weighing in :-* If you would like I am sure Laurie would send them to you via email. Just shoot her a PM. I wish we could have hooked up to at least meet but I know you guys were ready for a shower and a warm meal coming off the water from a hard day on the river.

Lots of boats on, making the river very crowded and weather changes put a hurting on patterns. Even some of the  best folks on the river were having a lot of trouble catching concistant bass.

Congrats to all those that made the Championship ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

Awesome coverage of the ABA by Ultimatebass.com!   I would have never seen that had you not mentioned it Mike.  I never see that main page. Guess I will have to check it first from now on.

Mike Cork

We put new articles up just about every weekday :-* lots of good reading mostly from our members with a true "how to" from an everyday fisherman and not a pro pushing their sponsors ~c~

Great articles and thanks for putting my picture up. I forwarded the link to the ABA national director in hopes he'll post the link to bring more people to your great site.

Ben did have the key and that was "ledge". That's were I found fish in practice but they just would not cooperated during the tourney. That's fishing!

Good job Ultimate Bass!

Fished the river yesterday. I knew it would be a hard day...Got a lot of bites but could not get any hook ups. I did get a good 3+ in the boat, but that was it. All my bites came off platices.

I fished out of clarks yesterday from 0700-1245. Water was clear in most spots deeper than 2-3'. Temp was lower 70's all day with a light wind out of the east mostly. Caught 6 with 4 keepers all on plastices. Was a good Morning for me.

Just wanted to second, third, fourth and fifth the kudos to Laurie for her coverage of the ABA championship - it is much more in-depth than the ABA website - but  I bet they have not gotten everything together back at the home office yet.  Still, they could take some pointers from Lauries articles when recapping the event.

thanks again

Trey and I went to the River Sat. for a while but did not stay long.
They were waiting in line to fish spots all down the river.    We went into a cove and there were about 10 boats in there, we fished a little just watching to see if we could learn anything. Then later on we went back in there to fish a spot we saw a guy catch a fish and there were 11 boats in there and they were all different boats ;D
Lady at Clarks said there were 97 boats entered and  3 clubs there.
Also that the fishers of men had a tourney next weekend and they were expecting over 100 boats.

Me and my bride went today, and despite the Media tourney, I found some water to fish down on Loggy Bayou.

Didn't catch anything to brag about, but didn't get out until about 10:00, and fished until about 2:00.  The wife managed one fish (good for her), and I boated seven.  Went a couple of miles past the second bridge, and fished the shady banks.  All came on a spinnerbait (chartruese/white).  Water temps were around 72.

Not a day for the record books, but fun fishing anyway.

Went to the red wednesday from 0730-1130. first time out there in 6mos. every where i went was boats. i went as far north as the white house and as far south as little ninock. didnt get a bite at all did alot of ridin around checking out where everyone else was fishing and asking myself  why were they fishing there? what made that spot or area special? i saw people fishing rocks, grass, tress little bit of everything but didnt see any body catch anything? i was wondering due we TCTC have an off limits area on the red? water was in the low 70's had a off color to it.  will try againg next week sometime.. later

Terry and I went to the red today. got to clarks at noon, got us a burger and went fishing. we fished till 1600 and only caught 4, we each caught 2 mine came on a crankbait, plastics. terry's came on spinnerbait, plastics. we could only get one bite at each spot we tried so looks like we will have a milk run going on..lol water was in the mid 60's

Hawgwild

Thanks for the repoet Railroader... I'll probably go for a few hours late Saturday afternoon and then a little longer Sunday afternoon..

Fished the Red this morning from daylight to noon. It was extremely cool this morning :'( Suface temp was right at 60 on my guages and warmed to 63. I only got two bites all day and both were just 12 inchers. One came on a spinner bait and the other on a worm and only about 6 miles apart. No pattern for this kid :'(

Got on the Red from Clarks for a couble of hours after work late Saturday afternoon... Only had a couple of hours fishing and think I spent half of that getting off stumps..ha....Then forgot to put my debth-finder in the truck so not sure water temp, etc.

Anyway did pick up a couple small one's on a white spinner...one just over 12" and one just under....I believe I was  near the Caspiano area in somewaht shallow moss/woods.... Didn't really have much time to fish the area more so headed back toward the landing and fish a buzzbait right at dark and shortly after but no hits..  :'(

Got some catching up to do on the Red as it has been several years since I fished it..

Did talk to another basser and told him about this site and he seemed real interested so maybe I caught a new Ultamate bass member too... :)

The red seems a little tough right now, but no wonder it has had a tremendous amount of pressure lately ~sweat with all the tournmaments. They had the ALBC top twenty five out there yesterday. This tournament usually is pretty large. The top twenty five placers get to go to the championship tournament. Well they only had 20 show up, so I guess if you paid your entry fee you got to go to the big show. Anyway I haven't heard how they did yet had some pretty good fisherman in it :-*
