~c~ Congrats on the good haul whens the fish fry anyway Ill bring the hush puppies??
BTW how did you catch them drifting or a hole, how deep. I could go for a boat full of crappie, my girl friend would appreciate any help you could give me on finding them. Shes been after me to take her carppie fishing, but I keep telling her to wait till the winter time. I was gonna take her drifting on cross and see what happened.
I caught you a delicious bass!

Well I was fishing on brush and stumps along open water at a deptj from 11-13ft fishing 8 ft down.  I really didnt start getting to many bites until 11 am or so. I didnt get to stay as long as I would like to have I had to go to work! I was fishing some newwer areas I they werent schooled up as much as I like them to be I think the most I caught around one stump was 5 or 6.  I was picking up mosly 1-3 here and there along this stump line!  Usually what I was doing if I got bite I would work that spot over really good then come back to it after fishing down a lil ways and would more often then not catch another one from the origanl spot! ALl where caught on minnows except for a few that were on jigs tiped with a minnow or crappie nibblets!  hope this helps whatcam

Are u talking about up in the macdade oxbo or river around?  Ive bass fished in macdae in april in may and done ok but never tried the crappie......I was cathing mine out towwards bulldozer pt.....I was wanting to try another spot but ran out of time....its up towards caspiana you go through the rocks like your going to go to caspiana but only go about 250 yrds  down the rocks and fish the brush/ stumps/ stick ups or whatever you want to call them pararrel to the rocks I believe that waters about 12 ft there and i have caught some along that line in the past.....

I've had some luck on shad colored cranks, in just about any timber.  Worms are getting hits if you fish them deep and a little slower.

Fished the Red yesterday with my buddy Steve from safe light until 1:30. We fished down south and had a blast catching a large quantity of fish by just not the quality we were looking for.  It was my first time fishing down south and it is a total different environment of fishing down there.  Alot more cranking and Carolina rigging. It was fun like I said, but not the quality yesterday.  Oh and lets not forget Damn Hot!!!!! >:D

Fished the Red for the first time yesterday. We launched out of Boyce and fished both North and South of the launch. We only caught 4 fish and one of those was a white bass. It is a beautiful river and right now the water is clear. I'm going to have to do some research on this place before our next tournament. Looking forward to going back, hopefully the fish will cooperate.

Hey Red River anglers!  First off, I'm praying for everyone down your way.  Stay safe and be careful :(

I'll be down in Shreveport the first of October for a week to fish a National College Championship on the Red.  I'm starting to put together some online tackle orders and was curious if any of you all had recommendations for what to use that time of year down there.  Thank you for any info!!

cgs2004,
I don't fish the Red that much but before I go I read all the old post from last year same time frame. I find alot of info that way and it pays off most times. Hope it helps.

Oh yea, this repot goes back over 2 yrs.  I've looked at the past 2 yr's reports of the Red quite a bit.  Its been great help!

Fished the LJBC tournament today on the Red River out of Colfax. Aaron and I took first place in team weight and Aaron took first in Individual and he took big bass. I took second place in the individual standings. Brush Hawg will put all the results down later. For the most part everyone caught fish and some reported catching 20 or more. Our team stringer was a little better than 11 lbs. We caught fish on crank baits near the rocks and the bigger ones came on ten inch worms and brush hawgs in an oxbow we fished way up North.

Congrats on the Win Rattle!!

Any certain colors of crank's or plastics that stand out?

Solid white crank baits and junebug plastics is what worked for us. The water was a bit dingy in the pool we were fishing but it wasn't too bad. I fished a pool farther south a couple of weeks ago and the water was very clear but the fishing wasn't all that great.

Congratulations Rattle. Sounds like it was a good day for your team.

Correction on individual standings, Shannon Thibodeaux took second and I took third. Didn't want to take away from the person who rightfuly deserved it. By the way Shannon Thibodeaux also took angler of the year, WTG Shannon.

How does the Red fish in early October??  Any tips on where to fish for Bass.
My wife and I are taking a much needed vacation and don't want to get skunked.

We wanna catch some fish. :)

Thanks much~!

Fishing should be pretty good on the River in October.  One word of caution...there is a BIG tournament there in early October, not sure of the exact weekend...maybe the first weekend in October.  I would think the oxbows should be good...try spinnerbaits, buzzbaits early, and of course soft plastic.

Bassbuff,
It's just for us man or I would have invited all our BAFB Club members to join us, Sorry. We even had a team drop out because his partern is in another SQD. Me and Kennyp are splitting up on this one to get more Airmen involved. So wish me luck!

Take Care,
Mitch

No problem, just thought it would be a way to get more $$ for the booster club.

Good Luck to you and Kenny both! Hope y'all nail some good stringers ;D!

I'll be fishing that "Big Tournament" you all are talking about in early October.  Just to give you a heads up; We have prefishing Oct.2nd-4th and have the tournament Oct.5th-7th.

It should be approx. 500 anglers (plus 50 college anglers, including myself) I'm not too sure what the number is on boaters.

If you are looking to stay at a hotel I'd suggest to book one asap because I hear they are filling up quick.  Best of luck out on the water!
