SkeeterT,

There are several casino hotels close to the stoner launch ramp, make your reservations early as they tend to stay pretty full. As for where to fish I will be chasing deer by then.

Was kinda thinking about renting a cabin at Clarks.  That way do not have to worry about my boat in the city.  also alot cheaper than a hotel.  How far is it from Clarks to stoner or the ramp right across the river from stoner?  Also if anyone knows of a cheaper hotel close that is safe or I am able to park a boat at in the city please let me know.  I need boat parking because of power and size of the lot.  I live in Texas so I am not too far.  Anything will be great thanks guys.

I would stay at Clarks . Clean ,affordable cabins and your boat is very safe. Clarks is about 20-25 minutes from the Bossier Launch (which of course is across from Stoner) . Anything cheaper and closer might be unacceptable in the cleanliness department. Just my opinion.

Gotta go with Chris on that one, best bet is Clark's, but call quick.

Red Ranger

Going to fish the RR around Coushatta tomorrow.  Will be blazing new territory.  Any tips?

TB44

I dont have anything specific to tell you except last time I was out on the red, watermelon candy, baby brush hog with tail diped in spike glow caught me afew nice fish!  I'm still wanting to know what to throw at them in the afternoon around clarks....going to be hitting that next week when i get off work!!

Red Ranger

Fished Saturday morning around Coushatta.  Caught 6 dinks around the rocks early using crankbait and rattletrap.  Tried to find cuts where there was current flowing through the rocks.  After a couple of hours of fishing and exploring I had trolling motor problems so I left early.  Some really nice looking water around the Coushatta area.  Wish I could have fished it more.  Water temp started at 83 and warmed up as the day did.

Sorry to hear about your trolling motor :'( Sounds like the crank bite works down there as well. Ole Dave the Dope Man fishes down there a lot and does well, he would have left you some tips but he is out of pocket right now :'(

Fished the RR around Coushatta Pool#4 last Thursday.  Didn't do to good, had alot of strikes on a June Bug Baby Brush Hog but couldn't hook up. Any tips?  I'm going back out tomorrow to the same area.  I'm going to concentrate on the rock jetties probably rattle traps.  If you got any advice, please I'm all ears.....

Red Ranger

White seems to work best around the jetties - white crankbait with some red on it, white willow leaf spinnerbait or blue/white rattletrap.  But, fish haven't had much size.

cmegee

If you're looking for numbers fish the rocks, using a crank bait, but for size I'd stick to laydowns in the river and pitch a big worm.

P2FOM

the fish have no size because no one fully grasps the concept of the Catch and Release idea.
I'm not trying to ruffle feathers but if people keep everything and tourny organizers keep the fish, theres no point complaining about small fish.

bassmaster135

use a Bright colored trick worm texas rigged with a light weight(like a bubble gum or pea green) go for cover not rocks on the red all them small fish  in the the rocks. Big ones in the RED (my opinion) like the shaded and very heavey covered areas ~shade

TB44

On occasion I have caught some nicer fish on the rocks but for the most part they are smaller!!!! J10B what are you talking about??? Every trip Ive ever been on out there i have caught nice fish!! Are you talking about 10lbs+??Not many lakes produce fish that big......Hey P2FOM I dont fish the red that much in the fall, but i would keep checking this site when it gets closer to the time your coming....by then you should have a better idea!!!!

Hit Pool#4 this morning and did not do too good.  I stuck to my plastics but could not figure out what color.  June Bug is usually a good but today they just weren't hitting it.  Any suggestions as to what colors and what type of lure?  I switched from a Culprit worm to a Brush Hog to a senko then to a  Sweet Beaver and still had no luck.  What is good spot to hit first thing in A.M.?

bassmaster135

Im all about bright colors in post spawn....Not everyone will agree with me just my opinion......i have had luck with a bubble gum trick worm(3x strike king) I think its all about bright color and action....3x trick worm floats to so you can go wieghtless and use it like a floating jerk bait..go for laydowns not rocks as stated above rocks can be fun for catchin little bass all day if you got no luck anywere else...Good luck ~shade

Im talking about the rash of complaining I have heard at the ramp and the comment on the small fish brought it to mind.
I was talking to a group of people that were complaining about lack of fish of any size, while saying they did get 3-4 eatin fish.  Then one piped in and said the local church Tournies use the fish for a fish fry after the Tournament.

My point is there is no use complaining about no decent fish if you are taking every one you catch home with you.

I fished #4 today too.  Caught a couple and missed several early in some grass.  Fished river bends for the rest of the morning and the few bites I got were light, and were in the deeper wood.  Couldn't get a crankbait bite going.

J- I agree with you on the catch and release thing, but it's a tough sell around here.  I knew a guy one time who was practicing for a tournament and found some really good fish.  He brought home like 20 lbs. to eat, went back the next day and did the same thing, then bombed out in the tourn. and wondered where the fish went.

thanks.  here ;PEP)  on me. :D

I couldnt eat a bass just because were Im from the bass are SO wormy its upsetting.
I personally consider them a sport  fish in the sense its a fresh water fish that will put up a battle, but you are right its a a tough sell.

bassmaster135

j10b i agree with you 100%...Ive seen some pictures at Spanish Lake,LA with like 10 or more bass on each stringer and they advertise it on a board....And i was sittin there thinkin they are always tryin to make that lake a better bass fishing lake but yet they support people taken 7-9 pounders out of it almost on a daily bases.....Makes o sence to me. >:(

TB44

Hit the river up this afternoon in all those dang storms!!!!!Prob shouldnt have gone with all the lightning...but i was deterimed to catch some fish!!! I bought a couple of shinners just to see if my crappie hole was holding any...only managed 2 but they were nice size....Then I hit up this ridge where it drops from bout 2 ft to about 8  throwing a dark colored lizard...black and blue and another thats straight black..and picked up 3 lil dinks and one nicer 4lber..anyway it still wasnt worth getting soaked over and dang near killed by all the lightning probably want ever do that again......It was stupid on my part!!!haha..oh I occansionally use brighter colors  this time of yr also but with the low light conditions i stuck with sometihng a little darker!!!!

Yeah catch and release should be practied more but there is nothing wrong in my book with taking home some fish to eat!!!I usually only bring the smaller ones home anyway!!

TB44

also wanted to add I didnt keep any of the fish today and normally dont unless i plan on cooking them up with in the next few days I dont ever fill a frezzer up!
