Forgot the date but there is a tourny comming up similar to the big McDonalds tourny..It's called Big Bass Bonanza and is sponsored by some radio stations in town..

It's on Oct. 7 and 8 and is $75 per day...fish one or both...hourly big fish prizes, etc..

We'll git into that White House area also Clint..good area and somewhat similar to Caspy...

I'll probably be back on the Red Wednesday afternoon and maybe fish their Thursday tourny similar to the Cross tourny...Gott start fishing there more as our next GM club tourny is there and first 5 ABA tourny's are there starting in October..

Scottie,

There was a big article in the Sunday paper about the tourn in Oct, facts, fees, rules, etc.

Yep. Said it was going to be in conjunction with the Red River Revel in Oct. Sign up start after 28 July. I remember reading something like $600 for hourly big bass (3 places?) and $3000 overall prize for big bass of the tourney. Early sign up drawing too. I think it was $125 entry, can't remember if that was for one day or two. Mike Echols was listed as the POC.

Stratos2

$125 for two days, $75 for one, registration papers / info at sporting stores.

All kinds of special drawings, etc.

dumb question but is it a team style or every man for themselves...i guess i am asking to see if that entry was per person or per boat...Jeremy

Stratos2

They addressed the fact that there were many couple, partners, etc. and that everyone needed to get the rules and review them carefully.

Those fees were for individuals - not per boat.

I have not seen a web site yet to go and review.  When I find one, will post for eveyone.

i think its one of those that you go to any lake or river and weigh in a fish at X hour, that is made offical.......by an offical, and at the end of the day the totals are counted.... Basically if you have 1/2 a clue fish caddo.

Chris

Guys its only the river and its per person entry ,not per team. Heres the  info.

With a purse in excess of $30,000, the inaugural 98 Rocks and Oldies 95.7 FM Big Bass Bonanza could quickly become one of the most prestigious local bass fishing events.

Set for the first weekend of and in conjunction with the Red River Revel on Oct. 7-8, the tournament will feature seven $600 hourly payouts on both days, along with an $8,000 check for the biggest bass caught during the two days.

There will also be a Youth Division for anglers 12 years old and younger. For a $10 per day entry fee, the youngster weighing in the largest bream, bass, catfish and crappie will win a $50 gift certificate.

"We had been receiving feedback that there was a need for a tournament like this and our sister station in Longview (KYKX) has run one successfully for 30 years," The Radio Group general manager Cary Camp said. "We wanted to offer something that was very fisherman friendly."

The event will be held on the Red River out of Clark's Marina and the daily weigh-in will be at that site. The winning checks will be awarded on a stage at the Revel at 6:30 p.m. each day. Organizers are hoping to attract 250 competitors.

"I canceled a goose hunt to run this event. That's how badly I felt it was needed," tournament director Mike Echols said. "The spring was so loaded with events that we felt we needed to have something of this caliber in the fall."

Entry fee will be $75 per person per day or $125 for both days if paid in advance. Every angler who registers before the early cutoff date (Oct. 1) will be entered in a drawing for $1,000, and each angler to enter will have their name put in a drawing for another $1,000.

Each hour on Saturday and Sunday (starting at 9 a.m.), the angler bringing the largest bass to the scales will receive $300, while $200 will go to second place and $100 to third place.

Additionally, the overall two-day big bass winner will receive a whopping $8,000. Anglers finishing second through fifth overall will get a check for $5,000, $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.

"Although we have interest from husband/wife, father/son, etc. teams, we want to stress that the tournament will be run by a strict set of rules and there will be no exceptions to them," Echols said. "We urge anyone entering the event to read the rules carefully and make sure that they understand them."

For more information, call The Radio Group at (318) 222-3122 or Echols at (318) 465-6453 after July 28.

From what I understand and read in paper, most of the local sporting good stores will have entry blanks / rules.  They stressed to make sure that you understood all the rules.

You may can also call the stations.  see email above for numbers.

If it's like any other big bass tournament they will be very strict on the rules. Make sure all you lights are working, if you are running before safe light; make sure your kill switch is operational; and make sure you always have your life jacket on when the big motor is running. I've heard of people being disqualified because during a random check an official went to their boat and pulled the kill switch and it did not shut off the motor. I've also seen people get DQed on the spot as they pull up to the weigh site and remove their life jackets before taking the motor out of gear. I've never fished one on the red but I'm sure they will be just as strict. These guys have to make sure people are following the rules and they have to show they take action when someone doesn't. It's an insurance thing and they are going to do what they have to in order to stay in compliance.

Went to the Red for a little while this afternoon..on the water aboun 1530.Everything was hot..boat seats..carpet..even the water...take a look..

101 degrees... :o

There wasn't a ripple on the water at the time..That temp was on the backside of Caspiano.. :shocking:

Even the cows had better since  ...they got out in the water and laid down...really... lo

Anyway did a lot of running and looking...Went into Caspy first..only managed one dink on the chrome/blue trap..

Ran to White House..hit some rocks on the way with no hits..then on into the main oxbow at White House...finally managed a 14" keeper on red shad Zoom dead ringer..8" size....Fished the outside area of White house a little..plenty of bream bites but no bass..

Got a whole lot more bream or google-eye bites than anything else...tempted to go for them one morning.. :)

Water seemed to have a green tint to it..don't know if that was just discoloration or perhaps an algae bloom...

Don't think I'll do anymore afternoon fishing for a while except for the Cross tourny....todays heat kinda cured me from that... ;D Musta drank near a gallon of water and gatoraide... that heat hurt..:)
