Rattle, I do not know what those bait fish were. I have not seen them before anywhere.  Several times I saw bass swim by with one or two of the bait fish hanging out or their mouths.

Chris

With the water as low as it is I wonder what this will do to this years white bass run. Beginning next month is usually an awesome time to take the family out and load the boat with fish up to three pounds. I know the white bass need current to do their thing. Any thoughts ?

I don't even know if you can launch in Loginsport now?

Lipripper

sounds like ya'lls water is real low.  :'( :'(

Fogy,
I think you are probably correct.. I hope we get some rain soon.
I was reading Greg Crafts fishing reports about a month ago and he said the females are loaded with eggs. There are some whites being caught in the main lake right now in the channel.

As far as launching a boat, the closest you are going to get is back in the lake at Huxley's but then you are going to want to idle to the river and your favorite fishing spot. So I would suggest launching on Wednesday and meet your family in Logansport on Saturday, you should be able to make it by then :-*

The only way you are going to launch in Logansport is to carry a john boat to the water :-*

Fishing is more than just a hobby

There is a launch up river from Logansport about a mile , it is a public launch and a possibility, but you would have to check it outr.

I know the TX side is a ways from the main river, but the LA side was right in the river but that launch isn't as nice.  I would think  - maybe you could put in on the LA side.  The TX side has a big sand bar right before the river and don't figure you could get over it right now.

Papa your right about that other launch, it's right on the river aas well, maybe it won't be all that bad.

ANYONE BEEN DOWN THERE?   :help:

Chris

You guys are talkin about Garrets Park. That is where I launch everytime I go.

Just wanted to remind everyone that fishes on the Sabine and only have a Louisiana liscense.....

Don't remember how far but when the Sabine turns back into Texas and is no longer used as the border between Louisiana and Texas, your Louisiana liscense is no longer valid..

I believe there is/was a sign when entering strictly Texas waters,  but not sure now..

Had a friend find that out the hard way. >:(

Good Point. They will bust you for sure......I keep a Texas License mainly for that reason. I make sure anybody who fishes with me on the Sabine gets one too. The fishing is simply better north of Logansport .

Yep....Both our states could do a better job of that...Our Louisiana Game and Fish could post a warning also...what's with that??

And I wish they could come up with some sort of compromise on limits on T.Bend and Caddo...That has cost plenty of honest folks a fine.

FYI...was told that the limit of white bass on the sabine is the same as TB...25 not 50.

Yes Sir I called the Wild Life and Fisheries myself a couple years back & was told that they consider the Sabine river all the way from the lake to the TX border as part of TB

Chris

I was told yesterday that there are some whites being caught around Logansport and some big ones at that ...Alot of the ones being caught are full of eggs. I will go check out the ramp...stay tuned

if you launch in logansport and go north a couple of miles, there are really noticeable signs that read: must have texas license beyond this point. you can't miss them

The boat ramps in Logansport are unuseable ...You can use Garrets Park if you have a 4 wheel drive and a smaller boat. The end of the ramp is approx. 5 ft away from the edge of the water. My brother went this evening to check it out and reported that no one was fishing in boats or bank fishing.
