Once you get a little time under your belt and am ready to change line, leave 1/2 of the mono on the reels for backing. Add whatever you want ( braid, fluoro or copolymer line) to fill the rest of the spool up. This gives a nice smooth surface for the mainline, reduces the cost of filling the reel up with premium line and eliminates the problem  braid can cause if it spins on the spool.  All of my 12 baitcasters and all of my spinning equipment is spooled that way. A high quality braid or fluorocarbon line can cost close to $30 bucks for a 330 yard spool. This way you can get at least 2 to 3 reels spooled that way. The 14 to 17 pound mono will work really nice as backing. Enjoy your new toys. I really like your arsenal.

Well, I have the Curado spooled now with 17 lbs test mono (I sold the Lews), but I am getting ready to put a heavier braid (40-65 lbs test) on it.
