hey, i've also looked into shallow water anchors but what i've found is that your probably better off with a trolling motor with a spot lock feature they work in any depth and water condition. also cost about the same as the anchors

i retract my previous post i have seen the light and shallow water anchor seem the way to go.
drop those suckers and boom that's where you stay no moving or repositioning. very cool for holding that great spot without any effort or battery drain

Unless that spot is 25 feet deep. lo Whether you go with Power Poles or Talons be sure to add an extra battery to your cranking battery and they do add weight to the back of the boat so it won't come up on plane as fastand may throw the trailer off balance.

I've found that anchors are more trouble than they are worth. You have  to keep a rope untangled constantly. You have to worry about the anchor getting hung up on something and it just takes up space. I'm using the trolling motor when I want to stay in one particular area.

You don't have to deal with boat inspections? Coast Guard requires an anchor with adequate anchor line for the water you're in and many states follow Coast Guard regs. They're for your safety and so they don't need to hunt and search for you when something goes wrong, saves us taxpayers money.

you have 3 options.
Power pole
Power pole micro ( pending boat weight)
Talon

Power pole needs hydro pumps and res which needs space, which these trackers dont have. so youre pretty much out of that, unless maybe the pumps where stored in the back storage compartments.

Power pole micro - electric version. up to 1500lbs. only bad thing is when the pole is up you have a 8ft pole sticking up in the back, and must be removed when making runs.

Talon - electric anchor. best bet for trackers. plenty use them. no pumps just wire in and mount on back. does add weight to the back tho. straight shot down to bottom, no folding down like power poles.

I just bought and installed a power pole micro on my 175txw since my boat is only 1300ish full and im a light dude. it wont hold in extreme winds i bet but it will hold me when i want to stop and work an area. i think i may have read a few guys using duals on 190s on a FB group.

Talon is your best bet if you have the money for it. I went the cheaper route for now as i did some reading with many pleased people using them on 175s.

Yes they make trolling motors with spot lock now, but those are ideal for deep water fishing. with the constant moving and running of hte motor to keep you on spot, in the shallows youd prob end up spooking alot of fish.

Here was the option I selected for my Pro Team 195 TXW.... Panther Anchor System and liking it!  Saved some money for other projects too.
