Launched the old Ranger today in the Waccamaw River.  I am happy to report that everything works as it should and no problems are indicated.  Steering was great and the motor ran really well.  It appears that the adjustment to raise the motor was what was needed.  Slow speed idle is much easier and on plane performance is about as expected.  Performance in turns was better and it looks like I have picked up about an additional 300 RPMs.

This test was just a 15 minute deal but told me all I need to know before taking it out for a fishing trip.  This is an old boat and not a speed performance machine but it does ok for what it is.  Water pressure is still very good and will carry about 25 lbs while on plane at 3400 RPMs,  It was a bit windy and was also high tide and the waterway had quite a bit of cruiser traffic so I did not want to mess around much.

Great to hear, sounds you are over the cycle, hope it will be just general maintenance for the next 25 years.

You don't have to do any break in again, do you?

The new powerhead has less than 4 hours on it.  The repair shop said that break in was not required but I think I am gonna treat it like it is.

Great News Bud !!! Hopefully I will be breaking mine in in the next two weeks ! I have no plans to get on the water during the holiday weekend but am shooting for the following Saturday !
Stop by the Garage and let me know if you have Maintenance issues that you need assistance with.

Smart call, Bud.  I'd give that new powerhead a few hours before running it WOT.  Vary your RPMs, avoid running at any given speed for more than a couple mins.

That's awesome Bud! Now don't break anything else.  ;D
