I put this together just as the jerkbait season was getting hot! I hope this helps a few of you if you've never considered this option...

Thanks for watching!

I really want to try this, how do you know what sizes hooks come on originally and what size to switch to?

I fish for Black bass as abank fisherman on the San Joaquin Delta River.

I imagine its all about the weight of the terminal tackle.  If you need to add or subtract more weight than a strip or two hooks and rings will make up that difference faster.  Can't go to big or small though or you wouldn't get any hookups.

Cool video YT, its neat to see that bait makers produce what they claim.  Any baits you've seen that are far from "suspending" out of the box?  Any adjustments for fishing with a current?

He never said what the water temp in his tank was. Even if it suspends perfectly in his tank, if the lake water is different, the bait will no longer suspend the same. Doing this at home is a waste of time. Plus, the fish might want a bait that slowly sinks like a Shadow Rap or slowly rises like a Shadow Rap Shad.

Of course the fish ultimately dictate the lure, but it is not a bad idea. Just add ice to change the tempature, then you can mess around and have different jerkbaits for different temps. Suspension is the suposed selling point of a jerkbait. It is not bad to hear someone out and mod their ideas further to fit your needs. I found this extremely helpful. No need to shoot it down. Tight lines!
