I peg my Texas rigged baits with a toothpick.  When it comes time to remove the toothpick from the weight it can be a pain.  I took an old worm hook and with a pair of dykes I cut off the bend and use whats left to punch out the toothpick.  I keep it with my weights for quick use.

I did that for a while but found that the toothpick damaged the line a lot of times. I use sinker stops now and don't have any problems. That's just a personal preference for me. Whatever works for each person is what they should use.

I peg my bullet weights on Texas rigs with a toothpick soaked in attractant.  They get a little softer and I think it hides the human smell.  BTW, I only use the pointed ends.
I took a lead head jig and cut the looped part of the hook off.  It gives me a little larger part to hold on to and pushes the toothpick out easily.

I have an old vintage diaper pin I've used to remove tooth picks from weights...had it for 30 some odd years since my daughter was an infant...bet you can't find one of those anymore.  No, I won't sell it...
If it bites, I'll fish for it....
