Trailer Support

I was reading the tip on a temporary trailer jack stop that I thought was a great idea.
When I replaced my jack a few years ago; I decided I didn't like the trailer being supported by the jack all the time. I had an old angle iron bed frame that I had not pushed myself to trash; standing in my building. I cut the bed frame to make a support 16" x 16" at the bottom; tapering to 8" x 8" at the top; somewhere around 20" high. I then place a carpeted plywood board on top to keep from scratching the trailer. I didn't have access to a welder at the time; so I bolted the support together. I jack my trailer up; place the stand under the tongue; then take the pressure off my jack.

Very cool idea, I have one of those old bed frames myself. Doing the same thing, taking up space because I won't throw it out!!!

Fantastic idea!

I used to always keep a couple of old bed frames laying around the shop.  Don't know how many times I used the steel for various projects.

Heck I just used some of the one I have now to add reinforcement support to the legs on my old table saw.

I made a 19" tall sawhorse from 2x4's to support the front of my boat trailer, taking the load off my wheel/jack.

That is a good idea, but they are supposed to be PINK, ask Lee.

being a carpenter , i just can't help myself - those saw horses need a small piece of plywood on each end , cut to fit the angle of the legs and flush with the top and bottom of the " I " to keep everything nice and stiff and to keep the legs from blowing out ....just trying to help !

You are right, and they need a stringer on the lower legs too.  I made these to stack and they usually only get used when I'm cutting sheet goods, so I left them off this time.  I also screwed them together to help offset the missing plates.
