I bought a Citrix casting reel a couple years ago, i heard good things about them but... Mine... Ehh. I was dissapointed. I cant even cast big cranks very far, it feels rough as i cast. And retrieve, am i the only one with that issue, lemons are possible with every manufacture. I love okuma stuff, but that one i dont even use anymore because of it just not performing well, any info on a fix for it? And i know its not me, im not new to baitcasters by any means.  :help:

If it's done this since new, it may have grease in places it shouldn't. A good cleaning and republication could help.

Probably need to flush the bearings but for starters, take the spool out and clean the shaft. Wrap a small amount of cotton around a tooth pick and clean the internal bore of the pinion gear (where the spool shaft goes). Oil all three spool shaft bearings. Put it back together. Loosen the spool shaft adjustment until the spool will slide back and forth inside the reel, retighten until that play just stops.

Give it a go after that, should see a lot of improvement, if not you'll need to tear it completely down and do a full cleaning.

Ill give it a try, i usually tear down my reels and clean them myself, cant remember if ive ever done it with that one... It has been used a ton so i might not have, how do you flush ypur bearings? Ive heard multiple ways but also heard not to do it those ways.

I use Ronsonol Lighter fluid. Put some in a small jar and swish the bearings around it in. I actually use a little more in depth process with a dremel but it's not necessary for home cleaning.

Wow! I must say i didnt think that would help, but i just went out to the dock and made a couple casts and it feels like a completely different reel! Thanks Mike! I also realized i had never had it apart before because when i went to tear it down, i couldnt remember how the side plate cane off. Pretty cool design they use with a spring loaded plunger.

Very cool. The Citrix is a good reel, I was surprised you were having issues. Glad it's working again.
