Sometimes you just have bad luck....and since I don't intend on trying to rearrange boat row poles or any other stationary object...I don't see it as a problem.  Maybe the older model Nitro's you owned were not as good as the  models these days...things change.  I'm not too sure about the 37 mph...wot...I think your Cobra runs faster than that and I do believe we run about even.  ;D

When I win powerball...at least $100 million I hope...I'll go buy a ranger.....NOT...  I have been known to throw money away, but I don't want to get ridiculous.  I'll just make a donation equal to the cost of a ranger to some charity and they can operate for 10 or 15 years.

I see ranger is having to think of new stuff to put on boats (i.e., hidden latch system)....another word for gimmics....to get people to continue to buy them.

I agree Doc...fishing out of a boat beats a dock anytime (or a ranger that runs about as fast as a dock).

Oh...they showed a video of the new Z series at the pre-tournament supper for the reeves.  It was pretty funny...the people getting there late were forced to sit on the side of the table that faced the TV.  All the seats facing away from the TV were taken first.

They didn't need to show a Nitro add, there were plenty of Bass Pro Catelogs in the bathroom ;D.

Good one Rattle.  However, there were no bass pro catalogs on the property...and definitely no Nitro ads.  Long story on that one and I won't go into here....I'll just say, I'm surprised they let Nitro boat owners in the tournament.

And they don't need to advertise Nitro's here.  Our dealership is the 3rd highest Nitro dealership in sales in the U.S.  ~bb

Most disposable or one use items sell in large volume, you alway have to replace them, just like toilet paper.

The reason this dealership is number 3 is NOT because people that already own Nitro's are buying replacements....it is because those folks that own the other brands are dumping them and stepping UP to the new number one boat....NITRO.

Don't know about stepping up...now stepping into "something" would be more like it and it isn't number one.   ;D

Hey...us males call it latent potential...it is always there...but we let it out in a measured manner...we don't want to use all the good stuff at one time!   ;D

Well you see what happened is...the other guys gave up 'cause the truth finally dawned on them that Ranger is simply the only bass boat on the water.  So...once that truth became clear...then silence was the only answer.  I totally understand and respect that position.  I mean I would NEVER rub it in.   >:D   I am sure that as they walked outside and looked at the fiberglass bath tub with the big vroom vroom on it they were deeply moved to the ultimate truth.  That while their boats appear to do all the same things that a Ranger does and do it as well they KNOW that it will never be.  However a few will continue to live their fantasy...and that is okay also...we Ranger owners are used to it...it has been that way since 1968...and we are compassionate toward them.

Heck...I might even start a "tidy bowl - blowin' up - yellow - snake biten - toys-r-us - fishin' weight with a motor - ride a mile and swim the rest - "man what was I thinkin'  - Yep...got her out of a catalog - Awwww Son!...I got this here beauty while on a three day drunk down in Mexico and where did I get this dang tatoo?"  boat pity party fund to ease the pain for them !   ;D

Now I have only heard of one boat on here that rivals a Ranger and that is Left_Turns...that boat is an example of perfect form and function and since most of us have a story like his and we all know that we loved our first boat...it makes what we all have really boring to be honest and he has also taken the prize for the best posts ever.   :)

From what I have read....I believe the thread started out to tell why "your" boat was the best.  It seemed to turn into a Nitro bashing thread (even before I got back to town and online).  And like I posted earlier...when those that are NOT number one can promote their product on its own merits...they bash number one (Nitro).

The Cobra is a good boat, so are Tritons and Pro Gators, and lots of others.  My preference just happens to be Nitro and there is not anything anyone could do to change my mind (my ex said that my dad was the second most hard headed person she knew).  And I haven't read anything in this topic that would change my mind.  There are only a few boats that I would use some of elmerp's M-80's on, rather than be forced to own one....but I won't name those boats that start with "s" and "r"....and sold at the same place here.

Ranger...I will give it to you that ONCE the ranger boat was the premier bassboat.  Maybe in 1968 and probably even into the 80's.  It was the top of the line.  But today, I'm not sure that they are even in the top 5.  So many other boat manufacturers have done such a great job in building their boats and marketing them....and ranger just didn't keep up.  And all the "innovations" will not bring them back to the top.  Not even the new "Z" series will do much to bring them closer to the top.  When you get ready to have the pity party....expect the largest turnout to be ranger owners....those that haven't caught up with today and changes boats.

And I agree that left_turn's should win for the best post and probably the boat that gives the most pleasure.

Mike you are absolutely right...I seemed to have gotten off track and neglected to give solid evidence in boat quality.  So...I will let someone else do some talking for me...take a look at what is at the end of this link...just select type of boat as bass...nuff said!   :o

http://www.jdpower.com/cc/boats/jdpa_ratings/BoatRatings.jsp

As a preview...

"Ranger ranks highest in the fiberglass bass boat segment for the third consecutive year, receiving high marks for exterior, maintenance and features. For a second consecutive year, Triton and Skeeter, respectively, closely follow Ranger in the segment rankings. " J.D. Power and Associates

"It Ain't all the things that we don't know that causes all the trouble...it's all the things that we DO know that ain't so!"

Mike Noble

J.D. Powers is probably not even a fishermen....and I would like to see who "audited" his findings.  And he has never called me.  How much did ranger pay for that....

I mean...2 of the top 3 in that rating should be.....  ~bu

Since this topic seems to have quited down a bit I asked Laurie to post some photos of the SeaSprite. You can view them (along with some commentary) in the section called "Our Gallery". Just click on the link on the upper left side of this screen. But please...don't hate me because my boat is beautiful!

Have visited the gallery...seen the pics...was too awe-struck to comment.

BIG PAPA

I have a question and a comment. Why is it that every thread that starts, What is the best boat made ends with MY Boat is the best. Can Nitro, Ranger Cobra, Champion,Triton, Skeeter, procraft etc all be the best boat?
Does every one actually own the best boat, and How is it that everyone has their dream boat already?
Now I have a nice boat , Tidecraft wildfire, I like my boat, I think it is a well made rig. But is it the "BEST BOAT MADE"
I really do not think so! I also do not think that any of the mid priced boats are the best made. Now I am not sure just what the BEST boat is but I suspect it would more likely be a higher priced boat like the Larson, Allison or maybe the Stroker. Now these are just my opinions I really do not know.
But what I do know is that Boat owners are very biased towards their own boats.
Now I like lots of other folks could buy practically any boat I wanted, (Since the onset of 15 year notes)  most anyone can afford a top of the line boat.
But as you can see from this thread (and many others I have seen on other sites) that end just as this one has with everyone claiming their boat is the best instead of really knowing the facts. Just how does one really know what to buy? :-\

I have a good story: My brother in law and his best friend bought new boats in 2000 One bought a Triton and the other bought a Cobra both 21 ft. with 225's
on them, Both talked about the others boat behind their back and about how their boat was the best.
Now fast forward to 2003 and both trade their rigs in The triton owner buys a Cobra and the Cobra owner Buys a Triton, now can you guess which boat each of them thinks is best?
I guess the " BEST BOAT MADE" really is the one you own !! :-\

Papa , My last boat was Tide Craft Wildfire. I loved that boat ! It was a great looking boat. It was kept under cover if it wasnt on the water and was continuously washed and waxed. I was offered a very good price for it and just couldnt pass it up . I think I even let a tear out when it pulled out of my driveway.  :'(My oldest boy cried as well. My wife loved it ...As me and my son pouted she counted the money out loud hundred by hundred  >:D. I have a Pro Gator now and I really like it but Im thinking somewhere in the near future of a Skeeter.

BIG PAPA

I bought my first Wildfire in 76 I think, then went through several brands over the years . Then When I found out they had quit making the original wildfire I bought the last one Smith Marine had in 03. I really like the boat, but sometimes I wish I had a little more room. I may be in the market pretty soon , I just can't make up my mind what I want.
