thanks Laurie. The younger one is the one I almost lost the day after the pics, he still wants to go fishin with me though. Maybe he'll be the future bassmasters classic winner. he'd be a great spokesman for Pampers right now.

MotherNature

Well I am glad to hear that he is still excited about going fishing... I think it is in their blood really early on and once it is there is little that will stop them ;)

yeah, I think he's still okay around water, I gave him a bath the day after, and he acted just like he always does. as far as fishing goes, he's had a fishing rod since last fall. he loves reeling in bluegill and crappie after I hook 'em for him. just wish the wifey had as much fun as he does when she goes w/ me. :)

I can tell you that I for one have a whole lot more fun now that the kids are grown and out of the house. When they were little it was always a chore to go fishing... You either had to take them with you which was great for them but it was a lot of work for me... or get a babysitter which meant that you were always wondering if they were being good, when you had to go home and not enjoying the time that you had. Now that the girls are all grown it is great to be able to spend the day with Mike on the water and just enjoy the fishing and the company ;)

My wife says she don't have the patience for it. When we go saltwater fishing she has a great time, but she says we dont catch fish fast enough when we go for bass. I told her "thats why they call it fishing and not catching" lo

I run a 19ft Rajun Cajun......I love the boat, especially the deck space it has.

I have a Cajun XXL 20 footer.  Took it out over holiday weekend and I love how it rides through rough and smooth water.  The deck space is really nice too.  There was 3 of us on the boat and we werent even within arms distance to each other.  Cant say to much more about it since only been out once with it.

I have a '78 Cajun with a 120 Evenrude. Love the boat. The fuel mixture on mine is 50:1. I just installed a oil injection system that I bought off ebay for 40.00, sure is nice not having to mix. I have also just finished replacing the wood in the gas tank and battery area. Sure made the rear deck more stable.
My boat is the same body style as yours. I don't think you will find a wiring diagram. I was reading a reply I'm not sure on this web sight or on the bass boat web sight from someone that worked in a boat shop when these boats were new. He said that at that time these boats were shipped to the dealers as just a hull, the dealer installed the electronics and engine that the buyer wanted. So the wiring was depended on who the installer was, and there were no service manuals or diagrams.

I have a 1997 Ragin Cajun, 20' 08" with a 225 Johnson. I love the storage, deck room, how it handles the rough water, and it is plenty fast enough.......

Hey Snapper.  I don't own a 170, but do own a 1993 Ragin Cajun, 18' 6".  I purchased it in 1998 and have had nothing but great times with it.  It's powered by a 1993 Pro V 150 Yamaha.  I bought it from a guy in Fredericksburg VA.  Of course it's showing it's age a bit, 14 years for gods sake.  I have put it through just about every possible test a boat was ever designed to withstand and it's shined!  I'm looking for the pistons that hold the compartment doors open.  I've chopped off 3 rods so far and it's just getting old.  If you or anyone else knows where to purchase support rods, please let me know.  I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures.  I'm brand new to this web site.  Take care and Tight Lines.  Brian

Hi! I'm a new member here, my name is Mike and this is my 1978 Cajun Mk IV with a 150HP Johnson on it. She runs 55 mph (GPS) and is the most stable and comfortable boat I have ridden in. I am slowly restoring the boat and so far have re-wired her, tune-up,new dash panel and gauges, added 2 fish finders and a trowling motor. Next up (this winter I hope) will be new carpet, Addition of stronger Trolling Motor (current one is a Mercury Thruster Plus II which is only 27# I think), GPS/Chartplotter(s), aerators, deck extension, painting outboard with new graphics, painting trailer and adding new LED lights on the trailer. This is the smoothest ride I have ever been in, she runs 55 MPH (GPS). I rebuilt the original switches for the dash plates and have restored the Walnut wrapped steering wheel.

i am a new member to this forum and have just purchased a 17ft 1996 Cajun with a 115 Johnson engine.  It will go in the water the first time on Saturday morning. Your comments here give me a lot of confidence that I have made a good decision.  I also have a 21ft Larson I/O pleasure boat but needed a bass boat.  I have a weekend place on Lake Livingston, Tx.  The task was to find something nice but inexpensive enough not to set the spouse off.  I have here to fore always owned Mercury outboards and am curious if I will be happier with the Johnson.  I got very tired of the fouled plugs and finnicky starting with the Mercs.

I own a 1995 Cajun 20Pro with a 1996 200HP johnson. I love this boat. It handles rough water better then most hulls i have ridden in. There are only a couple of thing i don't like about this boat. It does draw more water then i would like for it too and the back fishing area is smaller then i would like. Of course being the owner of the boat, i never have to fish the back. As for as the front fishing deck, you can do a Texas two-step on it.
