OK, on a serious note....my sig with a 14.5 x 26p Raker II pushes boat so far to 72mph gps. Only had boat out 9 times since getting it late Sep.

Want to add a 6 or 8" Bob's Machine Action jack. And go to a 4 blade, just not sure which one.

What do you think?

I have tried to help alot of guy's find a good performing 4 blade for a ranger but from my experience a tempest usually runs the best , not saying you can't run a 4 blade but the tempest seems to be the all around best prop especially when the blades are cupped good they give great lift which a ranger needs...

Forgot to add that i am a dealer for Hill marine and sell many 4 blades called an sl4 it is similiar to a bravo but much cheaper and run great on alot of boats but not so great on rangers we found out , they do ok but just seem to run better with a 3 blade..

I do believe you have some questions that Mike started, and I am interested as well because I have a similar issue on my boat.  I dont have a Legend like him.

Mine is a 2012 Z119.  225 ProXS and 25 Tempest.  I tried lowering the motor some on the jack plate.  My main issue is that I get a little blowout when the nose comes over and I dont feel like I can trim it all the way.  Top speed I have ever had her was 71.6.  I was thinking I should be able to get 74?

What would the cupping of the prop do?

Cupping typically adds lift to bow. If you have a bow heavy boat (mine) you need to keep the lift or you will lose speed, plain and simple.

Sometimes, props lose cup due to sand, dirt and just time from use. That will in turn cause you to lose speed, Rs and bow lift.

Nothing wrong with sending a prop in every year or other to get recupped.

Had a buddy gain 5mph back by having it cupped again. Didnt believe me that was the issue because his prop still looked brand new after 2 seasons. Was actually faster than it was on day 1.

Lose speed while in the water running?  Makes sense if you have a bow heavy boat.

Messing around with props sounds like it could become a whole new hobby.   lo

Oh yeah...you drop the nose and you will drop mph too. No matter what the boat is. It will put more hull in the water. Some boats are just more sensitive to bow lift than others.

And yes...props are another way to spend money.

I still think I just might need to come down another quarter inch and I might be ok.  Marked the original spot so I can always go back

Mike is correct , cup in a prop is what makes your boat lift and gain speed and it is not uncommon for props to lose some over time it is probably one of the repairs I perform more than anything..
