Well my old Shimano Curado CU-201 finally bit the dust. So what I am asking you is to recommend a new reel to replace it. I currently own other Shimano, Lews and Dawia reels but would like your thoughts on the newer reels less than $199.00 that you use and personally like the best.

Get another Curado. You can get a E series for a good price, or, if you want knew, get a Curado I or even the Citica I.

For right at $200.00 you can get a Lew's tournament Pro or a BB1. Curado's are running about $180.00, I have a couple. They are a good solid reel, but kind of dated by Lew's standards.

Dated? Please explain this to me, as this is news I have not heard.  :-\

My first thought is who told you the 201 you have is not fixable? Shimano did finally quit making parts for it but depending on what's wrong it could still be fixable.

In replacement, since you have a variety already one could recommend any of the top name reels and you'd make a quality purchase. I'm a huge Shimano fan and will always recommend them, I personal would not recommend the Curado I model unless you're willing to maintain it well. The Curado E model is just as bullet proof as your original CU and you should get years of service from it.

I just seen where Warrior River Tackle has a sale for a couple of Okuma reels. You may have never considered them. I've used them and worked on just a couple. They are very solidly made, Ron Fogelson here on Ultimate Bass has been using them for years with only one troublesome reel and it was stepped one. Anywhere here is the thread

I think you'll be impressed with the reel and it comes in at half your budget. You could get it and a Shimano Citica

They do, but the link I posted was to a sale on two specific reels.

Looked at the Curado E model on line Tackle Warehouse and it's more than I wish to spend. Really looking to pay $199.00 or less...

You may have been looking at the 300 series and that runs about 250. To replace yours you'd want the 200 series and you'll probably only find one of them on ebay or from a personal sale. Should be able to get a 200e for about $150

I saw that Curado I's can be found for $120 on American Legacy.

I can vouch for these reels. I own three and they have been very good to me.

Monster Fishing Tackle is out of the E7 but has an 6 in stock. You can send Steve a message and see how long it would take him to get the E7 in a lefty.

Steve Reed MFT tell him I suggested he contact you. Many times they have items in the store but not listed on line yet :-*

Or you could do a gear swap.

It adds about thirty bux over all but a gear swap is an option, then you have both and can swap out in just a few minutes.

yep.  haven't seen a 200 e series over on tacklewarehouse for a couple years.

might want to also check around cabelas online...they were running specials on chronarchs about a year ago...  might find a lefty still around...

Mike:  thoughts on the chronarch vs the curado?

LgMouthGambler

Chronarch and Curado E is the same reel with a different paint job and drag star.

Unfortunately, the 200E is not a reel Shimano makes any longer. Those have been gone for a while now - so not sure where you're seeing the E6. If you're interested in the Curado 201IHG, we'd be happy to order one for you.

While that used to be the case, our website is now a pretty accurate representation of our product offering in store when it comes to bass fishing gear - new items being the exception every once in a while. With a 25k square foot retail space and another couple thousand warehouse space, it has taken some time, but now its almost entirely up and the inventory is almost real time.

With that said, you can always contact us to special order something you do not see listed on the site. And, of course, if you see a price listed for an item on another site, we'd always like the opportunity to price match.
