Paul Bailey fishing with Matt Newman doing a vedio for Irod caught a potential new world record Spot 11.4 lbs. Paul and Matt tired to get a DFW official to examine the bass before releasing it and couldn't arrange it before releasing this bass.
Congratulations Paul, hope your bass gets certified.

PS, see "11.4 spotted bass" on the net  for details.

 ;D ~c~

have a trip I'm looking to take Feb/Mar down to 'bama to chase after some larger spots.
pretty sure they won't quite get 'that big'...

Know lots of folks love their smallies.  I happen to think spots are just about the meanest dudes out there.

Man!! What a fish. And what a fishing hole.
This is I think the third record to come out of that lake in two years the story I read said.

...was wondering if they couldn't transport the fish to a scale because of possible invasive specie designation?

Could be. I know they are very tough on that in that area.

It's isn't legal to transport live bass caught away from the lake or river they were caught in California.

They wanted to release the fish alive.. They weighed it on film with a bunch of witnesses and are sending the scales in to get certified. That should work.  They were filming a show with "Stoked on Fishing"...

That lake has giants thanks the the Kokanee plants in it.  It's been a secret for a while - but getting more and more popular each year.

It's a bit hard to get to as it's pretty deep into the mountains and not near much.  It's got world class Mtn. Biking in the area too!  Surprised it's not surrounded in snow!

Large bass often don't fight very hard. However, a Spot that size-----. Wish it had been me.

According to Google, the record is 10.95. Caught in northern California.

The 10.95 was also caught on Bullards Bar lake.  There was one before that, that was caught on New Melones by Keith Bryan.  But Bullards Bar has many record size fish in it. It's loaded with toads that are gorging on Kokanee daily.

Mike Bush

I bet that record falls in the next few months. Same lake.
