MAC RAM

My old I Mac is running out of space.  This system is an early 2009 system and only came with 2GB of RAM.  With all the operating system changes and other things the system performance has greatly reduced.  Just ordered RAM to bring the hardware up to 6GB should help me with the performance problems.

A computer that is nearly 7 years old and still running is amazing to me!!! I can't get them to last effectively more than 2.5-3

I have owned Apple products from the very early days of Apple.  I have had some hardware failures but only after years of good service.  This year I did loose a hard drive and had to replace it.  The internal fan quit working but it was fixed and the memory is just one of those things created by today's operating systems and applications.  So while the price of a MAC is certainly higher than the run of the mill PC the years of service and overall performance seems to me has been worth the premium price.  We do all we can to protect the system from harm of electrical spikes or storm hits but that only goes so far.  We have been very fortunate.  Recently I tossed out three Windows systems that were just shot and they were no where near the age of this mac.  Just like fishing equipment, you get what you pay for.

I keep 'em running until they're not worth dirt. Hard drives and batteries are about the only things I have to replace once in a while. I have a 2004 model Dell laptop in my office at home that I still use to do books and billing. I took it off the network when support for XP ended. I have several old Macs too, best computer around anymore. -Jim

New Memory arrived and is now installed.  The ol mac is running great.  No longer starved for RAM
